The Clowns go 6-1 with a sweep of Hartford and by taking three of four from Indy...yet can only reach fourth in the power rankings because Syracuse, New Orleans, and Washington all go 5-2. Even fourth though Wilmington was nothing to trifle with as they allowed only 11 runs in those seven games and opponents hit .156 against them. With most teams playing seven games here were some team leaders: Windy City scored 52 runs, California hit 18 home runs, Phoenix swiped 14 bases, the Freedom bested the Clowns and allowed 10 runs, Washington struck out 71 batters, and Syracuse allowed two home runs.

Performance of the Week
RF Marco Taylor - The newly acquired Rum Runner has been a hit with his team and he turned in the #2 performance of the season on July 3rd against Indy. In four at bats he recorded four hits, hit two home runs, and drove in five runs during a 9-3 Santo Domingo victory. On the season he's hitting .272 with 17 HR's and 49 RBI's in 80 games while compiling a 1.2 WAR.
Injury of the Week
DH Ted Christopher - The 37 year old made his way to Wilmington this season on a one year deal worth only $750,000. So far in 41 games he's hitting .313/.353/.410 and has brought a veteran presence to the lineup. Unfortunately on July 6th against Indy he went down hard running out a double in the 6th and was diagnosed with a severe hip strain. Trainers think the former four time All-Star will miss at least a month rehabbing. Injuries are hard when you are old.
Prospect of the Week
P Andre Ulleri - The only player in the international complex that is listed in the top prospect list belongs to the Knights. Ulleri is an 18 year old who hails from Italy and was signed in 2038 by a New York scout who was on vacation. He throws up to 97 mph, has three pitches, and already has established the reputation that he makes poor decisions both on and off the field. Not sure if he will ever make it to the BLB with those intangibles but at least he has a future as California's future third base coach.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Adrian Gramling is the youngest player in the BLB and doesn't seem to be fazed at all. At 20 years old he was called up June 25th for the series against Philadelphia and since then has hit .432/468/.795 with 4 HR's and 11 RBI's in 11 games. He was the 71st overall player taken in the 2038 draft and is one of 10 hitters from that draft that have played in the BLB so far. He's also nothing but a champion. So far he's won the Bush League Championship and the Lautering Union Trophy and if things keep up for the 54-31 Bats he might be getting a Brewmasters Cup as well.
2. The office of the commissioner was informed that the New Orleans Voodoo have acquired Roddy Sierra from the world champion Red Jackets as Batavia continues to go into full rebuild mode. Brewmasters Cup victory in October, a possible chance to repeat come April, a 7-22 record in May...and goodbye to Sheng 'Admiral' Jong, Jimmy Brabec, Marco Taylor, Jayden McLean, and now Roddy Sierra. Talk about an emotional roller coaster for the fan-base. Did we also mention the Voodoo have the most wins and the best offense in the league, and just added a guy who hit .297 with 40 HR's last season.
3. Speaking of New Orleans take a look at Erik Foley. In his first five season in the league he was 48-51. Since then he went 19-4 in 2039, 18-7 last season when he won the Pale Ale, and now he's 11-2 and on pace to go 19-3. That's 56 wins over three years, not too shabby. When Barton Mejia won 57 games from '38-'40 he won the Pale Ale twice and it looks like Foley could do the same. The last guy that had those numbers before him was Wes Perry thanks in part to a 28 win season in 2029.
4. Montreal has now taken the postseason odds lead for the final wildcard spot in the Domestic. At 37-48 they have a 35.7% chance with the 40-45 Whalers now at 34.7%. Don't forget about Toronto either who is sneaking up and now sits at 18%. Rumors (rumours) out of Canada are that the Canadians are looking to make a big trade to up those odds even more. In the Import we should have a lot more excitement as Phoenix, Philly, Baltimore, Denver and LAD will duke it out for the final two spots.
5. Interleague takes over the BLB this week as the IL and DL meet for two three-game series. Some potential Brewmaster Cup matchups we are looking forward to: California at Syracuse and New Orleans at Washington. Get your popcorn ready!
