Syracuse maintains a slight lead in the PR as five out of the top six teams currently hail from the Domestic League. Those lovable Snappers went 5-1 this week with a three game sweep of Dallas while taking two of three from Pawtucket. The biggest weeks though belonged to Seattle and Pittsburgh who each went 6-1. The Pilots are now 20-7 since the Jong/Brabec trade as both players are currently "Hot" and Seattle is only two back in the Bock. Meanwhile after last week the Millers finally have a winning June record and trail Syracuse by 2.5 games for the Ale lead. Other nice weeks were Phoenix, who reversed a late slide, by going 5-1 and Santo Domingo, Montreal, Washington, Batavia, Toronto and New Orleand who all went 5-2.

Performance of the Week
P Ian Johnston - The 29 year old pitched the first no-no of the season against Wilmington on June 23rd. Over the course of the game he struck out 10 and walked four as the Exports won easily 4-0. On the season Johnston is 6-3 with a 2.96 ERA and 1.09 WHIP. On a side note the last time he was this close to a no-hitter was July of 2038 when he played for Pittsburgh and one-hit the Exports.
Injury of the Week
P Yuri 'Punk' Baldwin - The 5th overall pick of the 2030 draft has had a long history of dealing with injuries, even back to his Poly Prep days in high school. On June 22nd against New York the injury bug caught up with him again as he left the game and was diagnosed with an Oblique strain that will keep him out several months. The Roadrunners will sorely miss the 28 year old ace who was 6-2 with a 3.09 ERA and 1.03 WHIP on the season.
Prospect of the Week
RF Elias Steves - This guy gives 'Punk' a run for his money when it comes to time in the training room, but so far this year in AAA he's stayed healthy and is crushing the ball. In 53 games he's hitting .346/.401/.691 with 21 HR's and 46 RBI's while playing both left and right field. He was the 18th pick in the second round of the 2036 draft and at 22 years old is currently the 44th overall prospect in the league.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. On June 20th Ron 'Vampire' Hutchison recorded his 2000th career hit against New Orleans, just a few weeks after hitting his 500th career home run. All though there are 140 players with 2000 or more career hits in the history of the BLB, there are only nine with 500 or more home runs. Sadly 'Vampire' sprained his wrist two days later in a collision at second on a fielders choice and will miss at least six weeks.
2. The Voodoo are absolutely pounding opposing pitchers this season as they are first in every single hitting category, not only in the Domestic but in the entire league. Their .307/.366/.516 is off the charts as the league average is .267/.320/.434. They have scored 82 more runs than second place Washington and have a run differential of +137...in 72 games. They also have two legitimate Triple Crown contenders in Elmer 'Bane' Caceres and Parker Wood. Those two have combined so far for 51 HR's and 156 RBI's. Oh ya...don't forget about Chet Sanchez who's on pace for a 10.5 WAR as well.
3. In the we like seeing these guys standings...Washington is 6-0 against Carolina, Pittsburgh is 6-0 against Pawtucket, and New Orleans is a perfect 6-0 against both Montreal and Indy.
4. We're not even to the halfway point and if the playoff predictions are right then five of the six teams are a lock in the Domestic, while three of the six are a lock in the Import with Seattle being fourth at 98%. In the DL it looks like the only competition we might have is between Hartford and Montreal, while in the IL Phoenix, Denver, Philly, and Baltimore will battle for the final two spots. Just remember though, they are called "predictions" for a reason.
5. Same stuff, different year, as the two best pitchers in the league continue to be J.J. Plumley and Barton Mejia. Plumley is 8-1 with a 1.85 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, and 4.0 WAR. Mejia is 6-5 with a 2.44 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 4.0 WAR. They are on pace for 9.1 WAR's and in the history of the BLB a pitcher having over a 9.0 WAR season has only happened 28 times, with Plumley doing it once and Mejia doing it twice.
