06/17/41
Take a few weeks off and we come back to Syracuse being the #1 team in the league...man how the fallen have become mighty. These Snappers set BLB records in 2037 and 2038 by winning 34 and 36 games, and now they are 42-22 and we're not even to the halfway point. This past week they went 6-0 with sweeps of Windy City and Los Angeles and outscored their opponents by 21 runs. Keeping up with those Snappers were California, Santo Domingo, and Batavia who all went 5-1. The Kodiaks now lead the Bock, the Rum Runners are two back in the Lager, and Batavia is in full sell off mode as last seasons champions are looking to the future. On the flip side LAD and Indy went 0-6 while Toronto, New York, and Montreal all went 1-5.

Performance of the Week
P Kolton Watson - As of this report Kolton hasn't been traded yet but you never know with the fire sale going on in Batavia. On June 15 though against Indy he went seven innings, struck out 12, allowed two hits and no runs during a 12-0 Red Jackets victory. On the season the 25 year old scouting discovery out of Guam is 2-2 with a 5.62 ERA and 1.42 WHIP in 17 games with seven starts.
Injury of the Week
P Alex Avila - On June 15th Avila came in against Philly, lasted one inning, and then left the mound with a noticeable limp. He was diagnosed with a strained hamstring and will miss at least a month. On the season the 33 year old is 3-1 with 9 saves in 20 appearances. He has posted a 2.89 ERA and 1.02 WHIP while striking out 20 and only walking five. He was a former 2nd round pick back in 2025 by the Miami Sharks and has played for California, Wilmington, and now New Orleans in the BLB.
Prospect of the Week
P Godrell Gonzalez - The 8th pick of the 2041 draft comes in as the 8th best prospect in the league. Drafted by Baltimore out of Arizona State he throws up to 96 mph, has five pitches, and had a doozy of a season this year. In 11 starts he was 0-6 with a 6.29 ERA and 1.68 WHIP. Scouts think his potential is off the charts though and if he develops he could be an ace.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Two superstars both hit historic home runs on June 15th as 27 year old Rory Elia and 37 year old Josh Allen each hit their 300th career home run. Elia, the 8th pick in the 2031 draft by Carolina, is a 6x All-Star and 2x Stout Slugger and is in his 8th season. Allen meanwhile was an undrafted free agent that the Bats signed for $20k back in 2024 and is in his 16th BLB season. He is an 8x All-Star and 2x BLB champion, winning a title in 2032 with Washington and 2038 in Hartford.
2. After a historic draft where Dallas had the 1st, 5th, 6th, and 7th pick the Drillers now have the #1 farm system in the BLB...talk about giving the fans some hope for the future. As for the present things aren't so bad either as they are 28-37 and putting up a good show after last years 54 win season.
3. The division leads are two games (Lager), two games (Bock), two and a half games (Ale)...and 6.5 games (Stout). Leave it to those overachieving Bats to have the biggest lead in the BLB. With their 40-25 record they have outpaced Philly by 6.5, Baltimore by 8.5, and Batavia, Carolina, and New York by double digits. With five pitchers currently ranked on the 'Who's Hot' list they could have a double digit lead over everyone by the All-Star break in a little over a month.
4. Elmer 'Bane' Caceres continues to have a monster season. The Voodoo first basemen is currently hitting .371/.442/.743 with 25 HR's and 67 RBI's. He is 3rd in the DL in average (1st is .372), 1st in home runs, and tied for 1st in RBI's, and his biggest competition for the Triple Crown might be his teammate Parker Wood. This season will be his 5th straight All-Star appearance and at 27 years old he could reach the 300 career home run mark in September. He was the 5th overall pick by New Orleans in 2033 and has hit at least 35 home runs and drove in 100 runs in every season he has played in.
5. Speaking of Bane...and All-Star games...Caceres leads the DL in vote getting for the 2041 All-Star game which will be played July 19th. J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice once again leads the IL and is looking to make his 7th straight appearance. On the season he's hitting .318/.363/.558 with 13 HR's and 44 RBI's while having the Bulldogs just a hair under .500 and in the playoff hunt.
