The Voodoo get the rare unicorn by going 7-0 with sweeps of Maine and Montreal, and go shooting up the power rankings like the latest colonization rocket to Mars. They now hold a one game lead in the Lager over the Rum Runners who tried to keep up with a nice 5-2 week. Not to be outdone Seattle and Windy City also went 5-2 as the Pilots move to 20-25 while Windy City now holds a four game lead over California in the Bock. On the other side of life Phoenix, Indy, Washington and LAD all went 2-5 while Pawtucket went 1-6. Considering the BLB isn't even a quarter done there is still plenty of time to make a comeback...don't give up yet fans.

Performance of the Week
LF Lucas Wilkins - They say Lucas is an avid hunter in the off-season but during the year he only has eyes for opposing pitchers. On May 22nd against Baltimore he turned in the #3 hitting performance of the season when he tallied three hits, two home runs, six RBI's, and scored twice in a 11-6 Red Jackets victory. Last season he hit .281 with 53 HR's and 132 RBI's and helped lead Batavia to become world champions. This season he's only hitting .224 with 13 HR's but hopefully this performance gets him going again.
Injury of the Week
3B Albert Minks - The 29 year old was the 2nd overall pick of the 2029 draft by Phoenix, but in six BLB seasons has never really lived up to his billing. He's a career .265/.313/.456 hitter that has never been to an All-Star game and was traded to Philadelphia in 2037 then Hartford in 2039. This season he's hitting .261/.315/.491 with 9 HR's and 24 RBI's but unfortunately he broke his foot May 22nd and will miss at least a month. In high school he hit .394 over the course of three seasons and led the Basic HS Wolves to a national title, but he just never reached those glory days again.
Prospect of the Week
1B Al Flanagan - The 19 year old is in his first season in the CCBL and did quite well for himself. He led the entire league with a .373 average, was named to the All-Star team, won the 2041 Cape Cup with Cotuit, and was named the Cape Cup MVP after his bottom of the 12th single allowed Andy Biron to beat the throw home and bring Cotuit their first title since 2015. He looks like he's destined for a BLB DH role in the future unless he finds where he lost his glove, but he's intelligent, a good teammate and could be a future star.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. The Blues have had no problems this season as they are 30-15 even with Barton Mejia a pedestrian (by his standards) 4-4 with a 2.26 ERA. I guess who needs to pitch when you are first in the Import in average, OBP, SLG, OPS, runs scored, hits, and extra base hits. Their run differential of +89 is tops in the league and they don't look like they will slow down. With an outfield that features 23 year old Sean Sayers (.341, 10 HR's), 25 year old Sidney 'Doofus' Ishibashi (.313, 9 HR's) and old man and captain Tom Stark (.318, 10 HR's) they have established themselves as the team to beat coming out of the Import this season.
2. Erwijn 'Moriarity' de Jong was one of the big winners of free agency this off-season when Syracuse signed the 29 year old to a 4 year/$100m contract. So far in 45 games he's lived up to the contract as he's hitting .400/.446/.577 with 3 HR's, 21 RBI's, and 25 stolen bases. He's on pace to post a 9.6 WAR when he previous high was his rookie season of 2035 when he recorded a 4.9 WAR. He recently just had a 20 game hitting streak and looks to be easily on pace for his 3rd All-Star appearance in his last five seasons.
3. Speaking of hitting streaks (are we allowed to do that?) look who has a nice 25 game one going...J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice. The 2038 and 2040 Stout Slugger was hitting .229 back on April 28th and people were starting to wonder what happened and if a change of scenery would help. Now 25 games later he's hitting .328 with 10 HR's, 31 RBI's and he has the Bulldogs at 24-23 and only a game and a half out of the division lead. He's been to six straight All-Star games and looks like lucky seven appears to be on the horizon.
4. Congrats to the Huntington Beach Oilers who won the High School championship over the Alac C Pope Generals this past week. The Oilers were 22-18 on the season, barely sneaked into the playoffs, and won the title in a dramatic deciding game when they scored four in the 6th, one in the 7th, and one in the 8th to come back and win 8-6. We mentioned Cotuit earlier who captured the Cape Cup which means only the NCAA has not crowed a champion yet. Currently the Texas A&M Aggies and the Rice Owls are tied 1-1 with the final championship game tomorrow. The Aggies are pitching Logan Buchanan who is currently 3-0 with a 0.90 ERA during the playoffs while Rice is scrambling to find a starter. Cooper Jordan tore his elbow ligament in his pitching arm and is out, and both other playoff starters are still tired. Rice won the last seven games of the regular season to get into the playoffs while the Aggies won the Big 12 with a 28-20 record.
5. We get some new match-ups this week with teams that haven't seen each other yet this season. First place Washington travels to first place Windy City. New Orleans and Santo Domingo get to battle it out for control of the Lager, and Phoenix goes to Denver for another series in the 'Brutal Bock'.
