The Pilots still maintain a large PR lead after going 5-2 on the week, but Santo Domingo sported a perfect 7-0 week and gained some ground. With sweeps of Maine and Dallas the Rum Runners have won nine straight, moved into second in the Lager, and now trail Montreal by 6.5 games. Other big weeks were California who went 5-1, and Philly, Pittsburgh, and Washington who all went 5-2. On the other side of life Dallas went 1-6 and is leading the race for the #1 pick of the 2041 draft.

Performance of the Week
P Maynor Franco - The 23 year old has been absolute gold in his rookie campaign and on July 6th he turned in another gem against Syracuse. Unfortunately for him with a 12-0 lead and two outs in the 9th he was pulled for Caesar Kubweza, but he still managed a three hit, no run, seven K performance in the 8.2 inning victory. On the season he's 9-1 with a 2.13 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
Injury of the Week
CF Anssi 'Dinosaur' Latti - On July 7th against New Orleans he hit a double in the bottom of the second, slid into second, and slowly stood up cradling his arm. He was removed from the game and x-rays showed he had a broken elbow and will be out the rest of the season. On the year he was hitting .323/.343/.497 with 17 doubles and 19 RBI's while starting 40 games in center.
Prospect of the Week
3B Chance Maki - Drafted by Maine with the 15th pick of the 2037 draft he hit .524 with 4 HR's and 12 HR's this past week, and is hitting .273 with 18 HR's and 55 RBI's on the season. He's spent most of the season at the DH spot but has the ability to play third base and is currently the #23 prospect in the league.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Seattle has once again outpaced everyone in the league. They currently sport a record of 58-25, the best in the league, and are 1st in nearly every pitching and batting category. With a run differential of 146 they are one of three teams with a run differential over 100, and sport a 34 run lead over Pittsburgh who is in second. Meanwhile poor California is 50-35 but find themselves already 9.0 games out of first in the Bock. If only they played in the Ale they would be a half game back from the Millers.
2. The Kodiaks signed Eiichi Nagao to a two year deal worth only $6m this past week, not bad for a guy putting up All-Star numbers. So far in 38 games he's 0-2 with 16 saves, a 2.45 ERA and a 1.06 WHIP. He was an IFA from Japan back in 2035 and has seemed to find his niche in sunny California. Plus who else in the BLB comes out to Nelly's 2000 hit "El". When the chorus of "E.I. E.I. uh oh" comes on it has been quite the crowd pleaser.
3. First Montreal's Logan Wilcher had an RBI in 10 straight games from 6/15 to 6/25, now he's scored a run in 10 straight games from 6/28 to 7/8. The 2033 2nd round pick went back to back in POTW, is hitting .364 with 15 HR's and 52 RBI's, and has a 3.5 WAR while playing center and right this season.
4. Ryan Hubbard of Wilmington swiped five bases last week, giving him 32 on the year and tying him for third in the league. Considering Richie 'Powder' van Luik has 49 he better get on his horse. Overall though in the last 10 seasons the Clowns have stolen 1692 bases, 291 more than second place Windy City and 1,127 more than Indy who is last over that time.
5. Tomorrow is the day the Rookie League gets cut back to 35 roster spots. Talk about playing for your BLB life. The good thing is that organizations have had 52 games to see exactly what the youngsters can do, and the vast majority of them will get moved up and around to accommodate both the new draftees and the youngsters from the last few drafts.
