    Performance of the Week

P King Sadiraj - Well if Barton Mejia isn't crushing your spirit on the mound then here comes the "Macedonian Menace" to finish up whatever joy you have left. On August 13th against Batavia he went 7.1 innings, struck out 11, and allowed only two hits and no runs in a 4-0 Blues victory. On the season he is 13-7 with a 3.55 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 3.5 WAR. Discovered by scouts back in 2032 he throws mid 90's, has three pitches, and has K'd 145 batters in 137 innings pitched this season.

    Injury of the Week

P Kristoffer Ball - The 37 year old was dominating Denver on August 12th, but in the 4th inning after getting Darrien Rojas to strike out looking he motioned for the manager to come to the mound. After a brief discussion he walked off with his head slumped and fans feared the worst. The worst was confirmed as he was later diagnosed with a torn rotator cuff and will miss the rest of the season. He was originally drafted in the first round by Batavia back in 2022 and played four seasons before being traded to Death Valley where he won a Brewmasters . Since then he's played for Philly, Hartford, Santo Domingo (again) and Hartford (again) where he helped them win the 2038 Brewmasters Cup. He signed with Baltimore this off-season and was 5-6 with a 4.76 ERA and 1.48 WHIP in 23 starts.

    Prospect of the Week

1B Andy Schultz - The 20 year old was a fourth round pick in the 2037 draft by New York and is currently on their A ball team. He was a 2039 Bush League All-Star and in 103 games he's hitting .284/.360/.510 with 20 HR's and 76 RBI's with a 3.0 WAR. He was drafted out of high school where he was a 2037 HS All-Star and then also became a 2038 Rookie League All-Star as well.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. The big announcement came this week much to the dismay of Miami fans that GM Cesar Shark was indeed leaving the organization. In a career where he racked up 2382 wins, 16 playoff appearances and two BLB titles his abrupt departure was shocking to say the least. As soon as he took over in 2012 his motto of "pitching and defense" was implemented and the results speak for themselves.

    2. In another big announcement Miami reached into the bag of former GM's with BLB experience and quickly hired Brad Z. He took over Philly back in 1986 and coached them all the way until the end of 2035. Over that time he won 4,111 games, went to the playoffs 22 times and was a game seven away from winning the 2033 Brewmasters Cup.

In an even bigger announcement the Miami Sharks announced they were also changing their name to the Miami Baseball Team before a possible move/re-brand this off-season. It looks like their logo and uniforms were made up on the fly but we have faith the league graphics department will cook something up if a future change is made.

    3. The Blues are coming! Windy City is now 27-11 over the last month and a half and only five games back from Seattle. They have by far the #1 Pale Ale contender in Mejia and the #1 New Brew contender in Sidney 'Doofus' Ishibashi. After Mejia and Sadiraj they also have setup man Frasier Gilbert who hasn't allowed a run in the last 11 games and closer Tom Jensen who has 31 saves and a 1.79 ERA in 43 games.

    4. The race to #1...and we mean draft pick...got a lot closer this week after the Roadrunners went 0-7. We thought it was a two man race between Syracuse and Philadelphia but Phoenix came out of nowhere to say "not so fast my friend." The Snappers are still in the lead with 35 wins, Philly comes in second with 37, but Phoenix is coming in hot with 38 wins now.

    5. The minor league seasons are coming to a close. With the new playoff setup for every level, which mimics the BLB, the races are coming down to the wire. The Rookie League has two weeks left while the AAA, AA, and A seasons have three weeks left. The winning team will now have to win four 3-game series before they can claim their respective title.

Love that SOTD... The most successful teams are at the bottom of that list... Loyalty is fun, but doesn't appear to be a winning strategy!
