The Kodiaks, who after a 12-17 August released a statement to their fans last week that their season was over and to not purchase tickets, went 6-0 and are now the third wildcard in the IL. They are only one game back from being the top wildcard and 6.5 games out of first in the Bock. Meanwhile Washington, Seattle, Windy City, Maine and Hartford all went 5-1. The Whalers, Bats, and Pilots are all still leading their division while Windy City moves within 1.5 games of the final wildcard spot in the IL. On the other end of the curve Santo Domingo, Indy, and Miami all went 1-5. The Racers are now a half game behind New Orleans for the Lager lead, Miami slips to the fourth wildcard spot in the DL, and SDR is in a free fall.

Performance of the Week
P Kennedy Hashim - It took until September 3rd but the BLB had their first no-hitter of the season when the Millers and Hashim downed the Tobs. Over nine innings he struck out 14, walked three, and held the reigning champs hitless in a 2-0 victory. In his first season in the bigs he has posted an 8-7 record with a 4.49 ERA and 1.35 WHIP. He spent the previous four seasons in the Millers minor league system after coming over from Iran in 2030 where he was discovered by Pittsburgh scouts.
Injury of the Week
CF Tom Smith - The baseball gods giveth and taketh away. On August 31st against Philly he was involved in a fielders choice at second and collided hard with Freedom 2B Colby Davis. Smith left the game and a MRI showed he had a partially torn labrum and will miss the rest of the season. On the year he was hitting .303/.360/.438 with 11 HR's, 42 RBI's, 20 SB's, and a +3.9 ZR in center field.
Prospect of the Week
LF Trent 'Racehorse' Girard - The 122nd overall pick of the 2037 draft by the Bulls was selected to the 2038 Rookie League All-Star game and ended up leading the RL in home runs with 18. On the season he hit .311/.373/.569, drove in 61, and posted a 3.6 WAR. Scouts love his work ethic and at 21 years old he should be moving up the ranks next season.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. We had our first brawl in quite a while on September 3rd when Albert Minks of the Freedom and Tom Courville of the Snappers got into it. After Gilles 'Mudcat' Rugiero hit a solo shot to open up the second inning, Minks was drilled three pitches later and all heck broke loose. Fisticuffs highlighted by several wrestling moves occupied the next 10 minutes and both were ejected. The commissioners office later gave Couville six games of rest while Minks got five days to cool off.
2. Old man Ian James still has it. On August 31st against Pawtucket he came to the plate in the bottom of the 10th with the score tied 2-2. Six pitches later he crushed a 358 shot over the wall to send the 40k+ fans in attendance into a frenzy as he slowly trotted around the bases. The 14 time all-star is hitting .234/.299/.447 with 26 HR's, 52 RBI's, and a 1.7 WAR on the season. Those are by far the lowest numbers of his career but Father Time catches up with everyone.
3. In the Triple Crown watch Ian Ammons got a no decision in his last start while Barton Mejia picked up a win. Against Indy on September 4th the Windy City phenom went 8.2 innings, struck out eight, allowed two hits and only one run in a 4-1 victory. Mejia is now tied with Ammons at 17 wins while his 1.93 ERA and 228 K's lead the IL.
4. Out of the three teams with the longest playoff drought one of them can say no more. New Orleans, Denver, and Montreal all haven't been to the BLB postseason since 2031. Currently the Voodoo hold a 100% chance of making it as they are 82-57 and in first place in the Lager. Denver holds a 29% chance as they are 75-65 in a very tough Bock. Meanwhile Montreal holds a 0% chance as they are 62-77 and will be drinking Zima's on the beach somewhere this October.
5. With only a few weeks left Washington has had the most fans this season with an attendance of 3.44 million. Seattle is next at 3.39m while California is third at 3.33m. Lowest to date is Maine who has only had 1.31 million fans at the turnstile.
