With everyone playing six during interleague week the clear winner was the Carolina Tobs who went undefeated as they swept both Miami and Montreal. They have won nine in a row, are #1 in the PR and only two games behind Washington for the Stout lead. Other big weeks were Philly, Indy, Cali, and Wilmington who all went 5-1. On the flip side Montreal and Windy City both went 0-6. The Import also took the interleague victory over the Domestic by winning 37 games to the Import's 35.

Performance of the Week
P Ron Valentine - On August 6th against Batavia he went 8 innings, allowed two hits, no runs, and struck out nine...and got nothing as Tom 'Tarantula' Kastner blew a save and the Red Jackets came back to win 3-1 in extra innings. On the year Valentine is 4-4 with a 3.39 ERA, 1.24 WHIP, and 130 ERA+ in 18 starts.
Injury of the Week
SS Chris Pineda - In the August 4th game against Pittsburgh he got hurt in the 8th when Millers catcher Pat Neely took him out at second on a fielders choice. He limped off the field and was diagnosed with a herniated disk in his back and will miss almost two months. For the year he's hitting .286/.339/.501 with 22 HR's and 70 RBI's in 105 games. In good news his agent filed a complaint with the league reference multiple team options that were placed into his contract which was ruled in favor of Pineda. He will now make $25,000,000 next season unless he chooses to opt out after this season.
Prospect of the Week
P Phil Curry - The #3 overall prospect was a 3rd round pick in 2033 out of Riverdale Baptist High School. He's now 21, playing in A ball, and is 5-6 with a 3.80 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 118 ERA+ in 15 starts. Scouts are worried about his work ethic but he throws four pitches and can reach the mid 90's when he throws.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Manny Quezada continues to impress as he leads the BLB with 40 HR's and 100 RBI's while also hitting .300. He's on pace for a 58/146 season but sadly the DK's 40/40 dream seems out of reach as he has only stolen 17 bases. Seth Blankenship is also breaking our hearts as he is on pace for 43 home runs but 'only' 33 stolen bases. If he reaches those numbers though it would be his fifth 30/30 season.
2. Robby Lee finally found a home as the Seattle Pilots signed him to a $6,969,069 contract this past week. The last two years playing for Pittsburgh he put up a 4.9 and 6.9 WAR and led the Millers to back to back DLCS. He had disagreements with the Millers new manager and instead decided to test free agency...and ended up sitting at home until August 6th. The four time All-Star can play first or left field and should bring some pop to the Pilots who find themselves only two games back from California for the Bock lead.
3. The Miami Sharks showed up three times this past week in 'Notable Games' and every one of them was a late game loss. First they allowed Baltimore to score three in the 13th to win 6-3, then the next day allowed Baltimore to score one in the 10th to win 3-2. Finally four days later they allowed Carolina to score two in the 10th to beat the Sharks 5-3. This sums up the Miami season as they are 46-67 and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2028. They have some young talent coming up though and might end up with a top five pick so the fans shouldn't fret to much. All good things come to an end.
4. Batavia's closer Tom Amesbury has been on a roll the last seven games. The 25 year old former 2nd round pick from 2029 has gone win, win, save, save, win, save all in just over a week. He is now 8-2 with 27 saves, a 2.64 ERA, and 1.09 WHIP. He throws a fastball, changeup, and knuckle curve and can almost hit 100 mph on the radar.
5. It looks like the DL playoff teams have been decided as Hartford, Wilmington, Pittsburgh, Santo Domingo, Indianapolis, and Toronto are all at 89.9% or higher. In the IL with Windy City's recent 0-6 skid they have dropped down to 35.7% as Washington, Carolina, California and Seattle all appear to be locks, while LAD and Batavia sit at 73% and 79% respectively.
