The DK misses a week and we come back to another world. Carolina is on top the PR after going 6-1, Seattle trades away two starters and they go 6-1, and New Orleans finally wakes up and goes 7-0 while outscoring their opponents 43-13! On the other side of life California goes 1-6 and is joined by Miami, Baltimore, and Montreal. The story of the week (and month) though was Syracuse (more later) who went 0-7 and have lost an unheard of 26 straight games.

Performance of the Week
P Lou LeTourneau - We have a new #1 pitching performance of the season as LeTourneau threw a complete game three hitter again Windy City on July 4th. The 27 year old, who was a 1st round pick of Philly back in 2030, also struck out 11 and walked none during the 6-0 Knights victory. On the season he's 8-5 with a 4.14 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and 104 ERA+.
Injury of the Week
P Tom 'Walrus' Lillegard - Poor Walrus. Not a star by any means as the 28 year old is long relief for the last place Bulldogs but he's had a rough year. First he got hurt during spring training when he partially tore his labrum and missed two months, but he fought hard to come back. Then his season has gone less than stellar as he is 2-0 with a 8.17 ERA in 17 games. Finally on July 5th he had to leave a game with shoulder pain and is now expected to miss at least five months with inflammation. He was a second round pick by the Bulldogs back in 2026 and at 7'2 is one of the most intimidating pitchers on the mound, but he just never could stay healthy.
Prospect of the Week
P Dave Larson - The second round pick by Seattle back in 2033 was the #61 prospect back in 2035, #74 in 2036, and #93 in 2037. He's currently #100 after the latest draft. Not to be discouraged the 21 year old is 7-1 with a 2.86 ERA and 1.26 WHIP in 11 starts in AA. He throws six pitches, had good stamina, and his coaches call him a "regular Joe".
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Poor Snappers fans. We talked a few weeks ago about their meltdown (both the team and fans) but it hasn't gotten better. In the month of June they went 1-26 and since late May they are 2-36. In the history of the league we have never seen anything like this. The good news is they have the 10th ranked farm system and are almost assured of having the first pick in next seasons draft.
2. Congrats to 1B Joy-shan Guo who hit his 400th career home run on July 2nd, almost a month after he scored his 1000th run. Drafted 20th overall by New Orleans in 2024 he played for the Dukes until 2032 when Batavia signed him to that huge 5 year/$184 million contract. He played for the Red Jackets for three season before becoming a free agent and signing with Washington after the 2035 season, where he has had a resurgence of sorts. At 33 years old he is a 3x All-Star and 2x Designated Driver winner.
3. The Sharks are having an up and down season but Jayson Buenaventura has had quite the rookie year. At only 20 years old the IAFA out of the Philippines was signed by Miami in 2034 for a cool $1,000,000. He finished 2nd for the A ball Outstanding Hitter Award in 2035 and won the AAA Platinum Stick award at first base in 2036. He was called up at the end of the season and ended up hitting three home runs for the Sharks in the playoffs at only 19 years old. This season he's been in the BLB since opening day and he has won the DL Rookie of the Month in May and June and is hitting .289/.377/.496 with 11 HR's and 35 RBI's in 67 games.
4. Today we look back and remember Bill Sandidge, the Washington Bats manager who passed away 10 years ago today at the age of 100. Born in 1926 he managed the Bats from 1981 until 2004, when he retired at the age of 78. During that time he won 2160 games, went to the playoffs 17 times, and won five Brewmasters Cups including three in a row before his retirement. Can you name the manager with the most wins?
Spoiler
5. Interleague is back and better than ever this week. Some key match-ups that have us grabbing our popcorn: SDR @ Carolina, Washington @ SDR, and Wilmington @ California. The Tobs, Rum Runners, and Bats are all over 50 wins and Wilmington has recently made some big trades and were 17-11 in June.
