The Blues and Millers both go 7-0 as Windy City got their brooms out against Baltimore and Seattle while Pittsburgh took care of New Orleans and Wilmington. Windy City has now won eight straight and is only two games back from California in the Bock while Pittsburgh is 5.5 games behind Hartford in the Ale. Other great weeks were California and Pawtucket who each went 6-1 while Indy went 5-1 and Toronto and Washington went 5-2. Goodness, all that winning only means there was a lot of losing as Baltimore, Maine, New Orleans, Syracuse, Denver and Montreal all went 1-6.

Performance of the Week
C Edwin Govea - The 31 year old turned in the second best hitting performance of the season on June 7th against Windy City. In five at bats he had four hits, two home runs, drove in five and scored three times in a 16-7 victory. The 3rd round pick in the 2026 draft is not often known for his bat but has won three straight DWI's at catcher. On a side not this game was tied 6-6 going into extra innings before Windy City scored 10 runs in the top of the 10th than included Govea batting twice in the inning.
Injury of the Week
CF Mike Dominguez - The only long term injury reported this week was Dominguez who hurt his back making a defensive play on June 7th and will miss at least a month. The 10th round pick from 2028 is in his first full season in the BLB and is hitting .275/.319/.357 while spending time in all three outfield positions.
Prospect of the Week
P King Sadiraj - The 22 year old was discovered out of Macedonian by scouts and has worked his way up to AA this season. In seven starts he's 3-0 with a 2.74 ERA and 1.13 WHIP with a 166 ERA+. Coaches complain about his work ethic but he throws mid 90's with a fastball, curveball, and changup and could be a #2 starter down the road in the BLB.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. The draft is over as BLB organizations will see a flood of talent appear in just over a week. With only Texas A&M and Miami left in the NCAA championship finale tomorrow the so called 'feeder' leagues are over. Here's to new top prospects appearing all over the land.
2. Another week...another brawl. Mel 'Rogue' Eaton for Denver was apparently upset that Carolina's Grant Hockensmith hit a three run home run off of him in their July 7th game then slow trotted around the bases. So the next batter, Bailey Handy, felt his wrath when he got beaned on the second pitch. Handy took offense, charged Eaton, and the rest is history. Mel got six games off and Bailey got three.
3. All-Star game voting has begun for the July 17th game. The early vote-getters aren't a surprise to anyone as Rory Elia leads the IL and Seth Blankenship leads the DL. What if Blankenship gets traded to the IL? Reports are still sketchy if he's going to be shipped out of town or become one of the most sought after free agents in BLB history after this season.
4. Dave Theisen of Washington hasn't lost in 20 starts as he's now 8-0 with a 1.96 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. He's 2nd in the IL in ERA, 1st in wins, and 2nd in strikeouts. Meanwhile JJ Plumley is 8-1 with a 2.68 ERA and 0.95 WHIP, and is 2nd in the DL in ERA, 2nd in wins, and 1st in strikeouts. Two legitimate shots for pitching Triple Crowns.
5. Speaking of Washington pitchers how about Frederick Wilson. Signed to a $102,000,000 contract by New Orleans in 2031 out of Mexico he went 8-8 with a 4.61 ERA and was one of the reasons the GM was run out of town. After not posting a winning season the next two years he was traded to Santo Domingo in 2034 he went 28-24 in three seasons there. He became a free agent and was signed by Washington this past off-season to a two year deal worth only $7.5 million. The 32 year old is now 8-1 with a 3.30 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, and 134 ERA+ and is on pace to receive his first All-Star selection.
