Two perfect teams on the week as the California Kodiaks and Indianapolis Racers each go 6-0. The Kodiaks swept Hartford and Maine and took over the top spot in the Power Rankings while the Racers took out LAD and Phoenix and moved within 3.5 games of the Lager lead. Windy City also had a great week as they went 5-1, while seven other teams won four games each. On the other end the 'Year of the Whalers' came crashing back to earth as Hartford went 0-6 while Philly and LAD went 1-5.

Performance of the Week
CF Tom Smith - The center fielder who hit six home runs all last season hit three in a game against Carolina on May 17th and turned in the #1 hitting performance on the season. Overall Smith had five at bats, four hits, three home runs, four RBI's and four runs scored in a 15-8 victory. The 25 year old is now hitting .321/.375/.431 with 3 HR's and 16 RBI's in 29 games.
Injury of the Week
RF R.J. Kapper - In the "All Millers" edition of the DK, May 17th gave to Smith and taketh away from Kapper. As Smith was preparing to hit home runs Kapper hit an infield single in the bottom of the 1st and hurt his back beating out the throw to first. He will be out at least a month and joins last weeks IOTW Dave 'Cabfare' Davidson on the IL. After signing a $100m contract this off-season with Pittsburgh it's not what the 19-19 Millers wanted to see.
Prospect of the Week
1B Kenny Powell - The 6th overall pick of the 2033 draft is now in A ball and tearing it up for the Windy City affiliate Thunder. In 25 games he's hitting .427/.516/.786 with 9 HR's and 29 RBI's. He can't field or run but coaches say he's an outstanding individual who is "first in line at the local blood drive."
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Ron 'Vampire' Hutchison saw his 27 game hitting streak come to an end on May 16th against California. In four at bats he struck out in the 2nd, flew out in the 3rd, ground out in the 6th, and struck out to end the 8th. It ended up ranking 30th longest all-time and he raised his average from .205 to .340. Not a bad months work. Fun fact...no one has hit more home runs over the last five seasons (32-36) than Vampire who has tallied 241.
2. The NCAA and CCBL playoffs start this week. Four teams will be batting for the Cape Cup (Yarmouth, Hyannis, Wareharm, and Harwich) while the NCAA Sweet 16 bracket is set. The four conference winners in the NCAA were Duke, Texas A&M, Stanford and UNLV. The Aggies ended up winning 37 games and with Saul Wang (6-1, 1.42 ERA) on the mound they look like the favorite to win the title.
3. The 2037 BLB draft is underway as GM's from around the nation are looking for the next star. With the 1st round coming to a close lets take a look at some of the best 2nd round selections over the history of the BLB. We can start out with Geoff Yonke who was drafted with the 2nd pick of the 2nd round in the 2013 draft. Inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2032 he went to 11 All-Star games, won 11 Designated Drivers, and was a 3x Stout Slugger winner. Next comes Dani Trujillo who was selected with 17th pick in the 2nd round of the 1987 draft. This 9x All-Star and 8x DWI winner was selected to the Hall of Fame in 2015. Finally we have Marco Lona who was selected with the 15th pick of the 2nd round in the 2001 draft. He was selected to nine All-Star games, won two DWI's, one Designated Driver and was selected to the Hall of Fame in 2026.
4. POTW this week...Seth Blankenship, drafted 1.2 in 2031 and Marco Taylor, drafted 1.3 in 2031. Robert Jessee, drafted 1.1 in 2031, was only able to hit .250 with 2 HR's and 5 RBI's on the week. With Dawson Davis taken 1.5 and Rory Elia taken 1.8 this might shake out to be the best hitting top ten ever.
5. JJ Plumley already has 16 more strikeouts than second place and is on pace to crush everyone in K's again. He was first overall the last three seasons in strikeouts and second the previous two years before that. With 1444 career strikeouts the 29 year old has a long way to go though to catch the all-time lead of 3597 by DJ Engstrom. Plumley is currently 246th.
