Santo Domingo had the hot hand this week as they went 6-1 with a sweep of Toronto and by taking three of four from Pittsburgh. The Rum Runners now hold a 5.5 game lead in the Lager. The other big week belonged to the Wilmington Clowns who went 5-2. They are now 17-15 on the season and second in the Ale. Ten other teams won four games while Phoenix, New Orleans, Pittsburgh, Denver and Toronto managed only two victories this week.

Performance of the Week
3B Phillip Klopf - On May 9th he crushed Phoenix by racking up four hits, two home runs, two RBI's, and scoring four times in a 15-0 spanking of the Roadrunners. The 25 year old was the 6th overall pick in the 2032 draft and is hitting .307/.367/.605 with 8 HR's and 26 RBI's on the season.
Injury of the Week
2B Dave 'Cabfare' Davidson - The Millers signed him on April 16th and in only 17 games he was hitting .328/.339/.623 with 4 HR's and 12 RBI's. Then on May 8th he broke his finger after Santo Domingo 2B Gil Porter slid hard into second base trying to break up a double play. Doctors expect 'Cabfare' to be out at least two months.
Prospect of the Week
P Austen Handa - The 19 year old is in his first year at Harwich but in 11 starts is 5-3 with a 2.36 ERA and 0.85 WHIP. He throws three pitches, including a 101 mph fastball, and his K/BB is 13.72. Coaches say he is a natural leader and scouts believe he "has a golden arm and should be at the top of any rotation."
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Congrats to 2B Javy 'Blur' Gudino who recorded his 2000th career hit on May 9th against Maine. It was one of three hits he had that day in a 7-5 Exports victory. Drafted 1.1 in 2024 he played his first 10 season in Montreal before being traded to Philly in 2034. He was then traded to Hartford in 2035 before becoming a free agent at the end of 2036 and signing once again with the Exports. His career numbers are .304/.360/.504 with 266 HR's, 910 RBIs, and 990 runs scored. He is an eight time All-Star, seven time Designated Driver, and won the Refreshing New Brew in 2026.
2. Our first suspension of the year was handed out to Denver's LF Trey Eubanks. On May 6th he struck out to end the 4th inning and went ballistic on home plate umpire Gregg Fisher. The 24 year had to be restrained by several teammates before Fisher finally gave him the thumb. The office of the commissioner gave him three games off and he returned to action on May 10th where he struck out three more times in four at bats.
3. On May 9th Denver, without Eubanks, and New York decided to play a nice 16 inning game that lasted almost six and a half hours. After being down 6-0 the Knights stormed back and ending up tying the game in the 8th inning 7-7. In the top of the 16th Denver finally broke that tie with an Ezra Paul single which scored Harry Donnelly. The bottom of the 16th started out poorly for New York as Ezekiel Redford struck out. Tom Martin though then walked, Ted Christopher hit a single, and Colin Bailey was intentionally walked to load the bases. Up came Jimmy Ballew who took a full count pitch 370 feet and over the right field wall for a walk off grand slam home run.
4. How good does it feel for the Bats organization that Dave Theisen is 5-0 with a 2.25 ERA. After suffering two long injuries and then going 13-10 with a 5.17 ERA last season...all after he signed a $75,900,000 contract extension...made for some sleepless nights for the GM. Theisen has now won 10 in a row dating back to last season and seems to be back to his 2035 form where he was 17-5 with a 2.99 ERA.
5. Seth Blankenship is leading the DL in home runs and is tied for the lead in stolen bases. He's on pace once again for the BLB's first 40/40 season. What makes this even more interesting is the 26 year old is on the Snappers trade block and could be playing for a new team shortly.
