    Performance of the Week

P J.J. Plumley - It's that time of the year when the Clowns plow over the rest of the league. This week it was JJ Plumley leading the charge as he turned in the #1 pitching performance of the season on September 13th against the hapless Millers in a 6-0 victory. His complete game one hitter with 12 strike outs and no walks moved him to 11-5 on the year with a 2.63 ERA and 172 ERA+. It was the first one hitter of his career and the closest he's got to getting a perfect game since his no hitter which he did against Pittsburgh in last years DLCS.

    Injury of the Week

CF Bailey Handy - On September 10th against Batavia he was beaned by Red Jackets pitcher Tom Neubacher and suffered a broken foot, which should keep him out another two weeks. Handy is hitting .264/.324/.534 with 11 HR's and 33 RBI's while filling in mostly at the DH spot.

    Prospect of the Week

CF Joey Robertson - He is the #5 prospect in the BLB and also started the game five rally that led to the Moose winning the Bush Championship over the Reading Railers. Down 8-7 he led off the 7th with a triple and scored the tying run one batter later as the Moose added three more runs and took the deciding game. On the season he hit .293/.387/.455 with 12 HR's and 65 RBI's with a +4.4 ZR in center field.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. The brawls are back as Phoenix and Windy City squared off on September 13th. In the 2nd inning with Francis Duarte on the mound for the Roadrunners he gave up a two out solo home run to Osgur Clark, and then decided to throw at Jimmy Doss who was up next. Doss charged the mound and got four games while Duarte got six games. To add fuel to the fire Phoenix ended up sweeping the series and all but ended Windy City's playoff hopes.

    2. The final spot in the DL playoff picture is between Hartford, Miami, and New Orleans. The Whalers have a one game lead over the Sharks and a three game lead over the Dukes. Hartford gets 13 out of the next 19 at home, the Sharks have 13 on the road, and New Orleans has 10 on the road. Miami and New Orleans meet for a three game series on the 26th which should knock one of them out while Hartford has some tough series left against SDR, Indy, Syracuse, and Pittsburgh.

    3. The big game on September 10th between 2nd place Washington and 3rd place Baltimore featured a JD Rice solo home run in the bottom of the ninth to tie it up at eight. The feeling of excitement soon left the park though as Washington came up in the top of the 10th and went walk, sac bunt, intentional walk, single, single, single, single, single, double, strikeout, walk, single, single, fly out. Eight hits...nine runs...and the game was all but over as Baltimore went ground out, fly out, ground out to end it.

    4. In the battle of 1st place teams the Syracuse Snappers travel to play the Santo Domingo Rum Runners for three games starting on September 19th. On the season SDR leads the series 5-3 as the Rum Runners continue to hold off Indy by 3.5 games while Syracuse leads Wilmington and Pittsburgh by 6 games.

    5. Speaking of Wilmington they continue to swipe bases and lead the league with 129. Phoenix comes in second with 128 while Windy City is third with 117. Over the past five seasons the Clowns have stolen 1000 bases, which is 236 more than second place Windy City.
