    Performance of the Week

RF Amari Gibbs - No one cracked the top performances of the year this past week, but on August 7th Gibbs racked up five hits in five at bats while driving in four and scoring twice as LAD easily beat down Washington 15-1. On the season the 26 year old is hitting .252/.331/.370 and has become the captain of the team.

    Injury of the Week

P Ed 'Superman' Tesluk - On August 6th against New York he came in during the bottom of the ninth and got two quick outs. Unfortunately JP Lattimore hit a two strike single and 'Superman' immediately signaled for the manager. He was removed from the game and went straight to the locker room. Tests later showed he injured his throwing elbow and will be out at least two months. On the season he was 2-2 with 23 saves and a 3.92 ERA in 43.2 innings pitched and was recently selected to his first All-Star game.

    Prospect of the Week

SS Omar Jones - The 43rd overall pick in the 2032 draft by Denver moved up to AAA this season and is hitting .310/.375/.419 with 9 HR's and 52 RBI's. His true ability though is on defense as he's one of the best infielders in the league. His +15.5 ZR at shortstop is tops in all AAA and his 1.105 efficiency is is 3rd among SS/2B/3B qualifiers.

Five Things I Think I Think

    1. Suspensions were flying out of the commish office this week. Pawtucket SS Jerah Contreras for three games, Batavia's P Tomio 'Godzilla' Ono for seven games, and Santo Domingo's CF Hisanobu 'Super' Maeda for three games. Contreras and Godzilla's resulted from a brawl which resulted from when Ono beaned Contreras five batters into the game. Maeda's came from August 5th when he was the final strikeout of the 6th inning and refused to leave the batters box. After finally chest bumping home plate umpire Lewis Clark he was pulled back by teammates and tossed from the game.

    2. Elmer Caceres now has the longest hitting streak in the league this season after hitting safely in 27 straight on August 10th. The 23 year old who goes by 'Bane' started his streak on July 8th against Pittsburgh and has raised his average from .276 to .305 during that time.

    3. The IL division winners seem to be wrapped up as Batavia holds a 13 game lead over Carolina and California holds a 10.5 game lead over Seattle. The DL though is far from over as Indy has now crept up to 2.5 from Santo Domingo and Syracuse took the lead back from Pittsburgh this past week. All four DL teams are locks for the playoffs but it can be a big difference come playoff time getting that extra week off to get healthy and prepare.

    4. Batavia's Jimmy Brabec was the 17th overall pick by Philly in the 2028 draft and later traded to Batavia in August of 2031 for Hoon 'Yardman' Park. He made his BLB debut in 2033 as a defensive star and hit 9 home runs. In 2034 he hit 19 home runs and was the DWI winner at second. In 2035 he once again won the DWI and also hit 25 home runs. This season he's on pace to crush 50 home runs and his +8.4 ZR at second is almost six points higher than the next IL second basemen. Meanwhile Hoon Park fractured his elbow in the 2031 playoffs, opted out, and re-signed with Batavia two months later.

    5. Congrats this week to the BLB 2036 Hall of Fame inductees Ed 'Dropkick' Carroll, Jaime 'Banshee' Stone, Tom Lewis, Alex Dominguez and Erik 'Action' Jackson. Look for more news following the ceremony later this month.

Still some fight left in those Patriots.

I love Omar Jones. I can't wait for Omar Jones to be a .220 hitter with DWI defense.
