  • The 2036 Daily Keg - Week 17

    08/4/2036

    (AP)

The Rum Runners move to the top of the PR after a 5-2 week and they now hold a four game lead in the Lager. Other 5-2 weeks belonged to Carolina, Seattle, Washington, Pittsburgh and New Orleans. The best week of them all though was Phoenix who went 5-1 with huge three game sweep of Batavia. The Roadrunners are now 52-52 and tied with LAD at 4.5 games back from Baltimore for the final wildcard spot in the IL. Speaking of the Bulldogs they had a doozy of a week as they went 1-6 and went from 2nd to 4th in the Stout. Their playoff odds still sit above 80% though but Phoenix has climbed up to 33.7%.

    24) Pawtucket Patriots (34.4, o)

    Performance of the Week

P T.J. Rountree - The 2029 BLB champion with the New York Knights came over to New Orleans last season where he went 16-8 with a 3.62 ERA. This season he's 7-8 with a 4.51 ERA but had a gem on July 31st against Maine when he tossed a two hit shutout with 8 K's and 1 walk in an 11-0 victory. Originally drafted by Pawtucket back in 2024 this was his third career shutout.

    Injury of the Week

SS Oscar D'Addona - After losing All-Star's Robby Diaz and RJ Kapper the Millers added 2035 DWI SS D'Addona to the IL this week when he went down with Plantar fascitis. Hitting .268/.323/.405 with 22 SB's and a +4.6 ZR at short he's expected to miss about a month.

    Prospect of the Week

1B Edgar Alonzo - The oldest player on the top prospect list is hitting .337/.403/.599 with 26 HR's and 82 RBI's in 102 AAA games this year. Drafted with the last pick of the 2nd round in the 2029 draft scouts say if he would spend as much time in the batting cage as he does on the driving range he might be in the BLB right now.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Ian 'Pickles' James had a great August 1st. First he was named the IL Batter of the Month, the 11th time in his career. Then against Phoenix he hit his 400th and 401st career home runs. The 34 year old just keeps on chugging along as he's hitting .327/.395/.619 with 26 HR's and 69 RBI's. He's currently 6th among active players for home runs, trailing only Dylan Owens, Johnny Swope, Ron Snider, Manny Nieto and Turell Morris. Not a bad group to say the least.

    2. Washington sure came alive this week on offense as they catapulted back into 2nd in the Stout. Runs scored over seven games: 13, 14, 5, 13, 12, and 4. When you go 5-2 and lose both games you don't have double digits runs though you have to be a little worried about your pitching. The biggest worry has to be Dave Theisen who in 22 starts is 8-8 with a 6.04 ERA and 1.52 WHIP. Everyone assumed he was back and healthy again after going 17-5 last season with a 2.99 ERA but insiders believe something is wrong again even though Theisen has claimed time after time he's "100% healthy".

    3. In one of the bigger trades this past off-season Philly sent Kevin Alston to California for minor league players Brevin Guo, Jaren Muga, Colby Davis, Van Mathey, and Mason Graham. Guo was the first to make his BLB debut earlier this year and in 44 games he's hitting .302/.366/.527 with 6 HR's and 21 RBI's while playing in center and right field. He was just named the IL Rookie of the Month and looks to have a chance to be very special. Davis is 21 and Muga is 19 and they both have huge potential as well. Alston is currently 11-7 with a 3.12 ERA in 21 starts and has led California to a nine game lead in the Bock. Combined with Tony Ramos it gives the Kodiaks a legit 1-2 come playoff time. That's exactly what they paid for so many agree it was a great trade for both sides.

    4. Sharks 3B Theo 'Boot' Mallen currently leads the league with 22 errors. Turell 'Two Ton' Morris leads the league with a -22.4 ZR. Dylan Owens is 270 pounds and Tom Lillegard of Baltimore is 7'2. We have no idea where this is going...

    5. Three teams have topped 2 million in attendance so far this year...Seattle, Santo Domingo and California. One team is still below 1 million...Maine. Time for the Guides to start advertising some specials!

He has the worst ZR of all-time...or at least since the game started tracking it in the 90's.
