For the first time in a few weeks, we have a new team at the top of the Weekly Power Rankings as Santo Domingo has moved into the top spot on the heels of 4-1 week. Apparently reading the DK last week really spurred in on the Washington Bats as they flew out to 6-0 with the sweep of two of the BLB’s best Canadian squads, in Toronto and Montreal. Also having good weeks were Indy, Carolina, and SDR, all at 6-1. Pawtucket and Montreal put in a fine 1-5 showing this week as the battle for DLBF trophy again this year!

Performance of the Week
P Tom Sellers – The DK had to double check the source of this story, as it appeared that Sellers was throwing against a AA team when looking at the box score. As it turns out, it was a real BLB lineup being fielding by a 15 win Pawtucket team. Wednesday, July 2nd, Chicago rolled into Pawtucket and saw Sellers absolutely dominate the Patriots to the tune of 9 shut out innings on two hits, with 0 walks, and 7 strikeouts!
Injuries of the Week
California sits comfortably at the top of the Bock division with a 12 game lead over second place Seattle, but they were dealt a heavy blow this week in the injury department. Leadoff hitter and gold glove caliber right fielder Alex Lezama was lost for 6 weeks while throwing a ball to a young fan between innings. The very next day, Dave Payette, injured his shoulder again throwing a ball to a fan between innings. Rumour has it, that with Fan Interest in California hovering around 66, the GM has mandated that every half inning ends with a ball being launched into the stands for a young Kodiak fan. Two injuries in, and we’ll see if this idea continues.
Prospect of the Week
RF Sean Sayers of Windy City is this week’s prospect of the week. Although, unfounded, it appears that Sean may be the illegitimate grandson of Chicago Bears great Gale Sayers. The former 11th overall pick in 2035, never got drafted in the OSFL, and after making the decision to turn his attention full time to baseball is hitting a robust 0.370, with 6 home runs, and 39 RBI so far in his rookie league season.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Happy 300th to Robby Brooksher this week. The consensus first overall pick in the 2022 draft was shocked to learn that he was being passed over for a low potential 3B named Johnny Swope. The second overall pick became just the 88th member of the exclusive club when he too last week’s performance of the week pitcher, Rory Piechowski, deep in the 6th inning. There are now currently 14 players in the BLB with 300 home runs.
2. In a trade this week, Batavia added 3B Ron Snider. Apparently the GM felt his offence was not impressive enough, so GM MWetts went about fixing the one offensive whole they had. Batavia is currently on pace to shatter the IL record for SLG% (0.487 2030 Seattle) as they sit at a hefty 0.510. Their current OPS of 0.865 would also shatter the mark of the highest OBP + SLG% of the two greatest IL seasons in history. Good luck to the rest of the IL now that Ron Snider and his 456 career home runs have been added to the mix!
3. We did get some negative press last week, as an unnamed GM complained that there was not enough coverage of HIS squad in the DK. So, on a completely unrelated note, we’d like to mention that Montreal was a stellar 1-5 this week, but CF Logan Wilcher, made his BLB debut to the tune of a 0.333 AVG, 1 home run, 4 RBI, and 7 served paternity suits. Just another average week in Montreal!
4. In one of the crazier stats this week, Seattle allowed 45 runs in 6 games, and somehow managed to go 4-2 on the week. Even crazier, is that it included a 7 run inning and a 10 run inning to a 28 win Maine team. The ten run inning started off innocently enough with Sonny Wilson striking out Gilles Rugiero, then it went walk, wild pitch, error, HBP, single, single, walk, (Insert Johnny Davenport to pitch) single, grand slam, single fly out for the second out, two run home run, (Insert Gerardo Sanchez pitching) walk, single, and mercifully a fly out to right field.
5. We continue our three week shout out to GMs to get their HoF votes in. The HoF voting is going strong. Please vote HERE. Please take some time to review the candidate bios, as this is a very strong class, and currently there are some players that are very close to the cut line in terms of getting in the Hall or just missing.
Due to technical difficulties there is no stat of the week this week. Instead, the Editor of the DK offers up some record watching instead.

Seth Blankenship currently has 26 home runs and 24 stolen bases which leaves him on pace for 52 home runs and 48 stolen bases on the season.
All Time Losses Record
Pawtucket currently has a record of 15 wins and 68 losses which leaves them on pace for 29 wins and 133 losses which would shatter California’s 1981 record of 39-122.
