Performance of the Week
P Rory Piechowski – On June 27, Baltimore rolled into Toronto with a three game win streak and a 44-30 record to face Rory and his career 46-71 record. How did things go? The first 9 Bulldogs were sent down in order. Zach Jackson led off the fourth with a hit, and was quickly caught stealing second, which kept Rory at the minimum numbers of batters. Not until the seventh did the Bulldogs get another runner on base, in a rally that was quickly cut short. With a stellar 111 pitches, Rory finished off the 3 hit shutout allowing only 2 walks and racking up 7 strikeouts!
Injury of the Week
P Tom Allen – With New Orleans clinging to the last spot in the DL, the Dukes were dealt a blow to their pitching staff. TMZ first broke the news when a video showed a scuffle on a New Orleans subway car at 4:00am. The grainy video shows a clearly intoxicated Tom Allen being beaten to a pulp by a bunch of rowdy Maine fans that were reveling in their sweep of the local boys. The injury leaves Allen out of the lineup for the next 3-4 weeks with a broken thumb.

RF Curtis Noworyta has been a bit of a forgotten man after being taken 1.1 in the 2033 draft by the Toronto Canadians. After 5 fairly lackluster seasons in the minors for Toronto, Curtis appears to be putting it all together this year in AAA. He is hitting a robust 0.300 with 14 home runs and 41 RBI, and stellar corner defensive play.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. SP Noel Graham who has been that hot topic of trade rumours the past few seasons, as Maine is going in on a full rebuild appears to be loving his new team in Phoenix. In a gutsy first season move, he was acquired by GM GoRipn, two weeks back has been all Road Runner fans could hope for, and more. In three games, Graham is 2-0 in 21.2 innings, while allowing only four earned runs, three walks, and striking out an incredible 21 batters!
2. Seth Blankenship had a very slow week, by his standards, with only one home run and one stolen base. He is now on pace to barely break into the 50-50 clubs as he has slowed down to projecting 54 home runs and 52 stolen bases. The DK is sure that he can pick up the slack next week!
3. Pawtucket put up two wins this week as they continue their press to get to 30 wins by season’s end. Their current record of 14 – 63 puts them on pace to finish the season with a record of 29 – 133. That season ending record, unbelievably would still see them finish 5th last if the season ended today!
4. Washington currently holds down the last spot in the IL Wild Card. They currently have a 62.8% chance of making the playoffs. Rumours are starting to fly that GM Liquid is mulling over a fire sale, but, the DK is fully confident that they will make the playoffs as they have the last 19 consecutive seasons.
5. The HoF voting is going strong. Please vote HERE. Please take some time to review the candidate bios, as this is a very strong class, and currently there are some players that are very close to the cut line in terms of getting in the Hall or just missing.
