  • The 2036 Daily Keg - Week 4

    (AP)

Syracuse fans continue to send hate mail to the DK offices even as the Snappers have their first losing week of the season by going 2-3. When you are 19-6 and have the best record in the league when predicted to miss the playoffs we suppose it's deserved. Sorry Snapper fans...please forgive us! Let's focus on who was winning this week though as New Orleans and Hartford went 5-1 while California and Baltimore went 5-2. Meanwhile Denver went 0-5 but were bested by Pawtucket who went 0-6. Rumor has it the Patriots GM is already claiming victory for the first pick in the 2037 draft! Bold predictions to say the least with 137 games to go.

    Performance of the Week

LF Crosby Yamashiro - The 33 year old entered the BLB from Japan at the end of 2034 and his 2035 season was anything less than spectacular. He made up for it on April 29th though against Phoenix when he four hits in four at bats, two home runs, drove in seven and scored three times in a 13-10 victory. On the year he's hitting .319/.407/.553 with 3 HR's and 9 RBI's.

    Injury of the Week

P Lemarr Nuanes - We missed this last week during our absence but the Bulldogs lost Nuanes for five months on April 23rd with a torn labrum after only lasting 1.2 innings in his start against Hartford. The free agent from the DR was 17-7 with a 3.38 ERA last season for Baltimore and this is a huge loss for the team.

    Prospect of the Week

LF Owen Kleindienst - The 20 year old from Baylor is hitting .407/.509/.778 with 18 HR's and 50 RBI's in 45 games this year. Last season he won the Platinum Stick award at RF while finishing third in the NCAA Outstanding Hitter award. Scouts say he can be a bit of a mystery but if solved this two time NCAA All-Star could be special down the road.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. It's not often we have four teams jump out like they did this season in each separate division. Out of Syracuse (19-6), Santo Domingo (18-7), Batavia (19-7) and California (19-7) three of them have built multi game leads already in the season with only New Orleans (17-8) keeping up with the Rum Runners. Let's just skip to the playoffs already!

    2. How about 44 year old Hoon 'Yardman' Park winning the DL Pitcher of the Month award by going 5-0 with a 1.41 ERA in five starts. He entered the league at 29 years old from South Korea and was signed by Syracuse...when they were the Slammers. The five time All-Star last won the pitcher of the month award in August of 2022.

    3. Marco Taylor is 8th on the Top Players list and could end up top three by the end of the year at this rate. The 22 year old won the Batter of the Month award and is hitting .417/.483/.845 with 10 HR's and 22 RBI's in 26 games. He's leading the entire league in hits, average, home runs, SLG, OBS, and WAR and scouts think he still has room to grow.

    4. Montreal's Ruben Castillo is going for the record books. Last season Erik Martin led the league with 16 batters hit. So far in 20.1 innings Castillo is up to seven! Batters are now wearing extra pads when they come up to bat.

    5. The BLB draft has begun!
