  • On the Eve of Spring Training in California

With Spring Training around the corner, one of the Kodiak beat writers sits down with embattled GM PaulEcee this week to discuss the state of the Kodiaks.

Reporter: “Let’s get right to the point… What the hell was that 5 for 1 trade to kick off the offseason all about?”

PaulECee: “Great Question… The answer is one!”

Reporter: “One?! Perhaps you didn’t hear the question correctly…”

PaulECee: “Let me expand… One… As in the number of seasons that this franchise has won a Brewmaster! We were a flagship member of the league in 1978, and we’ve only been to the playoffs 12 times, resulting in one… ONE LOUSY TITLE!”

Reporter: “But still?! That was a huge pile of assets to give up, for a pitcher.”

PaulECee: “It was, and we will certainly miss the potential, but we felt now was the time. Both outfielders were behind prospects, that quite frankly, we just see more upside in, Davis, with a great bat, can really only DH, and the two relievers, are, well… relievers. And in return for that, we received an ace, that will hopefully take the pressure off of Ramos and led us into the playoffs!”

Reporter: “Fair enough, but why now?”

PaulECee: “We’ve been rebuilding since 1987, and at some point, you just need to push some of those chips in. We also still have 6 top 100 prospects in a system that currently ranks fourth in the BLB, and a pile of picks the next two years, and to be honest… Finishing behind the Pilots… Again… Is getting to be a real pain in the ass. We’re hoping that Alston can be the ace that pushes us over the top!”

Reporter: “What about the rumours through Slack that the Pittsburgh GM said his scout loved those guys are you are mildly insane?”

PaulECee: “Erroneous, erroneous… I’ve have never made a BLB decision yet that I regret, or having looked back upon, would think of as a mistake… When you continually make the kind of great decisions that we make here in California, then you don’t have to worry about other GMs… Wait?! What was the question?”

Reporter: “Last question… What is the outlook for 2036?”

PaulECee: “Our goal is to leapfrog Seattle, and find ourselves at home for a playoff series for the first time in forever… I’m not sure that we have the squad yet, but perhaps one more move, and I think we’ll be right there!”

Hey we didn't think you were insane. Fake news fake news!

We just really liked some of those prospects...but to get Alston and make a play for a title is worth it. Plus you aren't in last in Brewmasters.
