The Racers catch up and surpass everyone as they go 5-1 on the week with a three game sweep of Pittsburgh. At 72 wins they now lead the league in that category. The biggest weeks though belonged to California and Baltimore who each went 6-1. They both now lead their respective divisions, the Bulldogs by 2.5 games and the Kodiaks by 1.5 games. Baltimore would have been 7-0 if Roadrunners star 3B Pat Nunes hadn't hit a two out, three run home run in the bottom of the 9th on August 7th to win the game 8-7. Not to be left behind Seattle went 5-1 to try and keep up with California for a chance at the Bock. On the flip side Maine and LAD both went 1-6 as they both look forward to next season.

Performance of the Week
C Jimmy Welborn - The 25 year old was a 7th round draft pick in 2030 and has turned into quite a player for the 1st place Kodiaks. On August 11th he blistered Miami with two home runs and five RBI's in a 15-4 Cali victory. On the season he's hitting .288/.395/.472 with 13 HR's and 40 RBI's while posting a 3.6 WAR.
Injury of the Week
2B Ted Christopher - At 55-55 the Knights are very much in the IL playoff picture so losing Christopher on August 6th to a hamstring pull running the bases hurts...for Ted and New York. On the season he's hitting .268/.321/.472 with 20 HR's, 58 RBI's while starting 100 games at second base. The team trainer stated he expects Christopher to be out 6-7 weeks.
Prospect of the Week
P Bradley Beehn - He started the year as the #3 prospect in the league but the 20 year old is now #1. He was a first round pick of Seattle in 2032, throws five pitches, can almost hit 100 mph, and has an extremely high work ethic. This season he was called up to AA after starting off in A ball and he's 2-1 with a 3.90 ERA in six games started.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Micah Gordon of Pittsburgh has had a down season. After being an All-Star selection last season he's hitting .252/.291/.450 with 14 HR's and 51 RBI's in 89 games this year. On August 7th he finally snapped after striking out in the 9th during a 4-1 loss to the Racers. He was recorded as "physically" arguing the call and after being tossed by the umpire he proceeded to throw his bat down then take off his batting gloves, cap, shirt, socks and shoes and leave them at home plate. He refused to pick them up and went and sat in the dugout with only his pants on. He ended up being escorted out by security and teammates had to pick up his clothing and bring it to the dugout. He was suspended by the commissioners office for three games.
2. On August 11th Windy City played Hartford. The Blues scored one run in the bottom of the first on a Jordan Reeves double which knocked in Ricky Figueroa. Hartford scored a run in the 4th to tie it up then nobody scored again until the bottom of the 13th when Hartford melted down. First they walked JD Lynch, then allowed Dave 'Sureshot' Schrader to reach first on an error, then beaned Ricky Pizarro, and finally on a deep flyout to center they watched CF Riley Thomas make a throwing error which allowed Lynch to walk home and end the game.
3. Montreal is now 50.5 games out of first in the Lager, but only 39.5 games out of the final wildcard spot. They have a run differential of -297, a ZR of -37.9, and have more wins on the road (11) than at home (10). We're gonna go out on a limb and eliminate them now from the postseason! They do have the #2 farm system though and SS Preston Capps, 3B Kahron Reyes, and CF Logan Wilcher look like legit future stars.
4. Seth Blankenship needs to get on his horse to be the first player in BLB history to reach the 40/40 club. He's currently at 30 HR's and 24 SB's and is projected to reach 44/35. If he reaches the 30/30 club he will tie Mel Woodbury who also did it three times and only be behind Hector Chavez* who did it four times.
5. The Rookie League playoffs are here as the first round best of three starts today. Omaha plays Boise, Norfolk plays Stillwater, Mobile plays Rochester, and Cleveland plays Raleigh. Rochester lead the league with 59 wins while Boise features 1B Bryce Wallace who lead the entire league with 28 HR's and 89 RBI's.
