    (AP)

Seattle stays on top with a 5-1 week but was not to be outdone by their IL counterparts as Baltimore, Washington, and Batavia all went 5-1 as well. Those four teams have more wins than any of the DL teams as Seattle now has a 22 game lead in the Bock and Washington leads Batavia by four and Baltimore by four and a half in the Stout. On the other side of the curve Carolina lost six in a row which means they have now lost 13 straight. They travel to Miami this week before getting a four game home stand against Denver.

    Performance of the Week

RF Ricky Pizarro - The 5th overall pick in the 2028 draft had three hits, two home runs, and drove in five during a 10-3 victory over Pittsburgh on August 26th. It's hard to believe but this is already his 5th season in the BLB at only 26 years old. This year he's hitting .234/.360/.417 with 17 HR's and 58 RBI's in 116 games.

    Injury of the Week

P Tony 'Toto' Cervantes - The division leading Whalers suffered a blow when 'Toto' tore his flexor tendon in his elbow on August 21st and will be out for over a year. This season he pitched in 77.1 innings and was 3-2 with a 2.33 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. Last season he was an All-Star and finished third in Last Call voting and he is considered one of the team leaders.

    Prospect of the Week

1B Elmer 'Bane' Caceres - The 21 year old who goes by 'Bane' is currently in New Orleans AAA club and is hitting .344/.416/.598 with 8 HR's and 36 RBI's in 56 games after being called up from AA earlier in the year. He was the 5th overall pick in the 2033 draft and is currently the 24th overall rated prospect in the league.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Wilmington has 148 stolen bases on the year. The Wildcats have three players (Jaime Rush - 62, Ed Gainer - 23, Dave Hudson - 21) with more steals than Montreal, who comes into this week with 17 total.

    2. The Tobs, as previous mentioned, have lost 13 in a row and 15 out of their last 17. They now sit at 57-66 but miraculously still have a 28.1% chance of making the playoffs. They are only four games back from Windy City for the final wildcard spot in the Import. The Blues have posted a winning record in each of the last three months and are now 61-62 with a 55.1% of making the postseason.

    3. The AAA championship will feature the Reno Railers against the Memphis Railcats while the AA and A playoffs are one game into the best of three championship series. Meanwhile the Rookie League playoffs are just starting with Boise vs Yonkers, Stillwater vs Omaha, Raleigh vs Cleveland, and Rochester vs Irving. Earlier this year in the NCAA the Pacific Tigers grabbed their first title since 2013 while Chatham won their first title since they three-peated from 2020-2022.

    4. In our yearly quest for the first BLB 40/40 player Seth Blankenship currently is projected to finish with 45 home runs and 34 stolen bases. Last season he finished with 35 home runs and 42 stolen bases. His OBP is down 24 points from last year (.315 to .291) as he has struggled mightily against LHP (.201/.223/.351). The only current competition he has is Washington's Dave Davidson who's projected to finish with 37 home runs and 24 stolen bases.

    5. In his last 37 games Dante Elliott of Maine is 3-0 with 21 saves over 46.2 innings. During that time he racked up a 0.58 ERA and 0.96 WHIP. In his last 22 games Dave Williams of Maine has thrown 17 innings with a 7.41 ERA and 1.65 WHIP.
