The Bats take over the top spot after going...3-3? What sort of East coast bias is this? At 36-21 they do have the 3rd best record in the league and the previous first place Millers did lose three of four to Montreal so we'll tip our hats to the Bats. The best weeks belonged to the a fore mentioned Exports and Syracuse who each went 5-1. Wilmington and Batavia went 5-2 while Denver went 1-5 and so did last years champs the Rum Runners who apparently have been reading too much of their press.

Performance of the Week
CF Rory Elia - On June 9th against Denver he posted the top batting score of the year after recording three hits, two home runs, and driving in six during a 13-6 Carolina victory. On the year the rookie is hitting .286/.339/.619 with 16 HR's and 49 RBI's while posting a 2.8 WAR. He's also played 55 games at center and committed only one error in 166 total chances. Per the OSA at only 20 years old he's already ranked as one of the ten best hitters in the entire league.
Injury of the Week
P Tom Dingman - On June 5th against Denver he got the win against Denver after throwing a one hitter over 7 innings but left due to shoulder pain. He was diagnosed with tendinitis and will miss over a month. On the year the 27 year old is 7-1 with a 2.25 ERA and 1.11 WHIP.
Prospect of the Week
P Evan 'Moby Dick' Penn - Taken with the 8th overall pick of last years draft he was shipped this week to Maine along with a future 1st round pick for SP Kevin Alston. He's currently the 6th ranked prospect and at 18 years old scouts believe he has the potential to be a perennial All-Star down the road.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Tom Straus got called up to Indy this week for his first action of 2034 in the BLB. He lasted all of one game before in the 2nd inning of his second game he charged the mound and punched Hartford pitcher Ron Valentine in the face after getting beaned. Both benches cleared, multiple fights broke out, and Straus was suspended four games while Valentine got an unheard of nine games!
2. Dylan Owens signed a one year contract extension worth $868,000 this past week to stay with Toronto next season. He's currently making $29,000,000 this year, the last season of his $247,500,000 contract that he signed with the team in 2027. At 37 years old he's hitting .261/.293/.450 with 11 HR's and 35 RBI's in 56 games.
3. Kevin Alston going to the Freedom is a huge pickup for a team trying to get back to the Brewmasters and currently tied for the 5th best record in the league. In 12 starts for Maine this year he was 3-4 with a 4.52 ERA and 1.34 WHIP. In one start with Philly he's 1-0 with a 2.35 ERA and 1.04 WHIP. At 27 years old the two time All-Star could be a dominant force in the Import for years to come.
4. Hall of Fame voting opened up this week. The headliner for this class has to be DJ 'Brick' Engstrom who was an 8 time all-star and 5 time Pale Ale winner. He led the league for nine years in strikeouts and is the BLB all-time leader in that category with 3597. 'Brick' also won 22 games twice in his career and won over 15 games five other times. He was the 2nd overall pick of the 2010 draft by New Orleans and spent all but his final season with the Dukes.
5. Seth Blankenship better get on his horse if he wants to reach the 30/30 club much less be the 1st player to ever join the 40/40 club in the BLB. Currently he's hitting .248 with 17 HR's and only 7 stolen bases in 54 games. For a guy that stole 42 bases last year we expected so much more.
