The Millers go 3-3 after running into the buzz saw known as Wilmington but stay on top as Baltimore goes 2-4 after losing two of three to both New York and Seattle. Speaking of the Pilots they went 5-1 this week along with Maine to post to the best record in the BLB. The Guides posted a 1.35 ERA as they allowed only eight runs in six games. Meanwhile Toronto and Carolina both went 1-5 as they are neck and neck in the battle with California for the second overall pick of next years draft. The first pick in the draft has already been secured by Montreal but that was traded to California for Riley Thomas (who now plays for Hartford), CJ East (retired at 26) and Dave Polise.

Performance of the Week
P Pat Schick - On August 28th against California Pat Schick threw the first no-hitter since well...Pat Schick did it in 2031 and the first perfect game since Jaime Stone did it in 2030. On the year the four time All-Star and 2029 BLB champion is 10-9 with a 2.49 ERA, 0.95 WHIP, and 157 ERA+.
Injury of the Week
2B Jamie 'Grumpy' Hutter - There were several big name injuries this week but the Blues losing Hutter for over a month as they battle for the playoff lives will be hard to overcome. On the year he's hitting .296/.320/.423 with 33 RBI's and 31 stolen bases while posting a 1.1 WAR. For a team that is 9th in batting average but second in stolen bases they are going to miss him in the #2 spot of the lineup.
Prospect of the Week
2B Jimmy Doss - The 21 year old is currently on Windy City's RL but looks to be their future second basemen. Do they rush him all the way to the BLB in order to fill in for Grumpy? On the year he's hitting .366/.437/.556 with a +2.2 ZR at 2B.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Since California's Ethan Beach made the DK for being 0-10 and having the longest losing streak in the BLB he's won two in a row including a complete game shutout on August 23rd at Denver. Motivation can be found anywhere!
2. Milt Shankman for the Red Jackets blasted five home runs and drove in twelve this week and won the IL Player of the Week...and nobody knows who he is. In his second season the 24 year old is hitting .301/.344/.544 with 30 HR's, 90 RBI's, and a 4.7 WAR. He was the 43rd overall player taken in the 2029 draft and his leadership and work ethic are raved about by teammates. Looks like Batavia has another future (present?) star on their hands.
3. Matt 'Stallion' Healey went down this week with a torn hamstring that will sideline him the rest of the year. From 2017 to to 2026 he played in 126 games or more every season for Denver. From 2027 to 2033 he hasn't played more than 125 games with him only recording 80 last season and 103 this year. Since he came into the league no one has hit more triples as his 124 are tops in the league, one more than Jamie 'Superfly' Kitchen's 123 (who is on the DL).
4. Ron Hutchison will be healthy in three days and reports out of Hartford say he'll be put right back into the starting lineup. He went down August 2nd and after being out 27 days he's still 1st in the BLB in home runs, runs batted in, slugging percentage, isolated power, OBS, OPS+, weighted OBA and runs created per 27. What could have been.
5. Closer Garret Clausnitzer was a 4th round pick by Denver in 2027 and this season at 23 years old has blossomed into one of the most feared relievers in the BLB. He started the season off with the BC by recording 5 saves in 10 games with a 1.59 ERA and 0.88 WHIP. He was then traded to Indy on May 2nd along with Dusty Phares. He came out on fire and in 29 games and 34 innings pitched he had 13 saves and allowed only 1 earned run (solo home run) before going down with a triceps injury. He's now back and recorded his 19th save of the season on August 24th and could be a force down the stretch for a Racers team tied for the fourth wildcard spot.
