  • The 2032 Daily Keg - The Brewski's

    (AP)

The 2032 season is over and congratulations are in order for the Washington Bats. The Bats finished the regular season with a record of 100-62 and won the Stout. They then beat Phoenix in the Divisional Series 4-1, Seattle in the ILCS 4-2, and came from behind to beat Hartford 4-3 in the Brewmasters Cup. This is their first title under their current GM and first title for the organization since 2012. They were picked by the DK to win it all before the season and the 'Year of the Bats' finally came through!

    The Brewski's

The Daily Keg is excited to announce the 3rd annual Brewski Awards show. After pouring over the season the selection committee has announced the the winners for the following awards, some serious...some not so serious. So without further delay here we go.

    Player of the Year
1B Johnny Swope, SEA - With almost 200 less plate appearances than most of the leader board he still managed to hit .325/.393/.639 with 33 HR's and finish 2nd in the league with a 6.0 WAR. Once again he was selected as the IL Stout Slugger (3rd straight), the IL 1B Designated Driver (3rd straight), and All-Star (7th straight). He helped lead Seattle to 96 wins and the Bock title and at 30 years old is considered by many the best player in the league.

2030 winner: 3B Johnny 'Big Stick' Swope, SEA
2031 winner: 1B Turell 'Two Ton' Morris, MAI

    Hitter of the Year
1B Jermaine Williams, IND - Subjected to more 'random' drug tests than anyone else in the league Williams went from 38 total home runs the last three season combined to hitting 40 bombs this year while hitting .320 and winning the Stout Slugger. He led the league in OPS, OPS+, SLG, WAR and was 2nd in OBP. He also stole 24 bases while leading Indy back to the playoffs for the first time since 2026.

2030 winner: 1B Turell 'Two Ton' Morris, MAI
2031 winner: RF Ron 'Vampire' Hutchison, HAR

    Pitcher of the Year
P Noel Graham, MAI - The 29 year old was 16-7 with a 2.05 ERA (1st), 0.95 WHIP (1st), 186 ERA+ (1st), and 5.7 WAR (4th) in 33 starts this season. He was crucial in Maine winning the Ale and has been lights out for the Guides since entering the league from Australia in 2027.

    2030 winner: Manabu Hamada, DEN
    2031 winner: Manabu Hamada, DEN

    Rookie of the Year
1B Dave Perry, PIT - Selected by prior management with the 21st overall pick in the 2027 draft he went from AA last year to starting 160 games this season for Pittsburgh at first base. He was named the DL Rookie of the Month five times, won the 2032 Refreshing New Brew and was named the DL Designated Driver at first base. Overall he hit .255 with 39 HR's and 111 RBI's while posting a 2.6 WAR. Runner up goes to Seattle's Tyrone Annear who hit .269 with 27 HR's and posted a 4.0 WAR, but was a 29 year old free agent from Australia signed by the Pilots this past year.

2030 winner: 1B Pat Walton, HAR
2031 winner: 2B Alex Arana, SDRR

    All-State Hands Award
(Given to the player with the most total chances and no errors...who doesn't play primarily first base)
CF Gil Banda, MON - Playing center field for both Hartford and Montreal he had 421 total chances and never made an error. He finished the season with a +2.8 ZR in CF in 137 games.

2030 winner: RF Dusty Janson, DEN
2031 winner: LF Jamie Hendon, NY

    Army Ranger Sniper Award
(Given to the catcher with the highest runner thrown out percentage with a minimum of 30 attempts)
C Landon McClelland, PHI - Playing for the Freedom last season 40 runners tested his arm and 18 of them didn't make it safely to the next base, which gave him a RTO of 45%. Offensively thought he didn't have much to write home about as he hit .195 with 4 HR's in 305 plate appearances.

2030 winner: C Micah Gordon, WIL
2031 winner: C Ian 'Pickles' James, SDRR

    Frank Abagnale, Jr Award
    (
Given to the player who stole at least 20 bases and was caught the least)
RF R.J. Kapper, PIT - On pace for a record year before being derailed by Maine, who beaned him twice, he still managed to steal 24 bases in 25 attempts while only playing in 84 games. He also hit .361 with 7 HR's and had a 4.4 WAR.

2030 winner: CF Pat Welch, BAT
2031 winner: LF Akiyuki Kimura, MAI

    Ludacris Award
    (
Given to the player who got hit with the most pitches)
2B Tristan Hagen, HAR - The 2032 DWI winner at second base wasn't on the field for his offense but he sure upped his OBP by taking repeated balls to the body when at bat. Hagen was hit a remarkable 18 times in only 372 plate appearances while Javy Gudino came in second after being hit 15 times in 694 plate appearances.

2030 winner: 1B Geoff 'Mr. Reliable' Dail, MIA
2031 winner: 2B Dave 'Bulldog' Bickford, NY

    Broadside of the Barn Award
(Given to the player with the highest strikeouts per plate appearance)
1B Tom Lewis, MAI - The 38 year old recorded his lowest batting average of his career (.218) but also recorded his 5th highest home run count (35) while striking out at a 25.6% rate, the highest in the BLB. We will overlook it though as this 3x BLB champion and 10x All-Star's career is coming close to an end.

2030 winner: LF Sayid bin Sariyah, LAD
2031 winner: C Sean Gallion, SYR

Swing For Between the Infielders Award
(Given to the player with the most hits but no home runs)
3B Ron Morgan, SDR - Ricky Figueroa almost had his 3rd straight 'Brewski' wrapped up but on September 27th against LAD he finally hit his first home run since 2028. Instead we had to scour the list quite a bit to find Morgan who recorded 106 hits and no home runs while playing in 93 games for the Rum Runners.

2030 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, DEN
2031 winner: 2B Ricky 'Heartthrob' Figueroa, DEN

    Dickey's BBQ Beans Award
(Given to the pitcher who hits the most batters)
P Robby 'Bruiser' McEvoy, BAL - No one lives up to their nickname like 'Bruiser' did this season when he beaned 18 batters in 31 starts and 185.1 innings pitched. On the year the 26 year old was 12-8 with a 4.47 ERA and 1.41 WHIP.

2030 winner: P Nate Bettis, PHO
2031 winner: P Pat Burgess, PIT

    The Milton Swingline Stapler Award
(The player who earned a check without deserving one)

1B Dylan Owens, TOR - It hurts to put Owens on this list as he is a former 7x All-Star, 6x Designated Driver, and BLB Champion but this 36 year old's best days are behind him and he's still making superstar money. Coming in as the 4th highest player in the league at $29 million he hit .225/.263/.431 and recorded a -0.1 WAR.

2030 winner: P Jerrod Blick, TOR
2031 winner: P Jerrod Blick, TOR

Put all my spare cash in an Antiguan account so Jermaine doesn’t come calling for an extension

        Good stuff, Matt.

I still haven't won any of these, but that banner sure looks nice.
