  • The 2032 Daily Keg - Week 15

    (AP)

    Performance of the Week

3B Ron Snider - The big FA acquisition from Pittsburgh this off-season smoked Indy for the second highest batting score of the season on July 12th. In five at bats he recorded four hits, two of which were home runs, and drove in an amazing seven runners in a 12-2 Indy victory over New Orleans. On the season Snider is hitting .230 with 22 HR's and 54 RBI's while compiling a 2.2 WAR.

    Injury of the Week

P Louie Sumski - The relative unknown Sumski strained and abdominal muscle on 7/12 pitching against Toronto and will be out for at least a month. He was rewarded a few days later though when he was selected to the DL All-Star team after compiling a 7-4 record with a 1.90 ERA and 0.90 WHIP. He won't be unknown for long.

    Prospect of the Week

C Dave Nichols - Selected with the 21st overall pick of the 2028 draft by Miami the now 21 year old is tearing up AAA and might get called up sooner than later. Currently he's hitting .363 with 3 HR's and 44 RBI's and a 3.4 WAR in 69 games. His arm and overall ability behind the plate make him even more valuable to pitchers and he is known to play a heck of a game of poker.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. We're not sure if the Stout is just a land of equality or what as from Washington (1st) to Batavia (6th) the split is only 10 games. The other three leagues feature first to worst separation of 22.5, 23.5 and 22.5 games.

    2. Pawtucket is currently sitting at a team ZR of -35.1, almost 10 points worse than 2nd to last place Toronto and 57 points worse than the highest rated team in the league in Maine. The main culprit for the Patriots is 26 year old center fielder Pat James who's -16.9 ZR leads the entire BLB. He was a second basemen but has slowly moved into the outfield. He has the range and arm, and very rarely makes errors, but it's unknown if he will ever master playing center.

    3. Redford Jeralds (Mon) is 4-9, Pat Kubacki (Pho) is 3-9, and Erik Cortese (Wil) is 4-9. The thing that ties them together is they are the only pitchers in the league with an average run support of under 2.0 a game. The other end of the rainbow features Donny Brunke (Ind) and Jimmy Maggio (Bal) who come in a 4.6 runs a game. Combined they are 17-8.

    4. On July 14 Phoenix traveled to Los Angeles and took a 3-0 lead into the bottom of the 9th inning. LA was quickly in the hole as Jarrod Atterson and Ted Christopher grounded out and Phoenix starter Mark DeGennaro was one out away from getting a complete game victory. Instead the manager brought in Ethan Jackson who promptly gave up a three run home run to Tommy Fields, his 12th of the season. Phoenix hit a solo home run in the 12 but LA responded when Tom Allgood drove in Robby Brooksher with a sacrifice fly. The game was reaching the 5 1/2 hour mark when in the bottom of the 16th CJ Stripling hit a two out, full count pitch 398 feet over the wall and finally sent everyone home.

    5. The 2032 All-Star rosters have been announced. We'd like to congratulate the following:

Erik Ward I think is the only all-star via FA this year. I really wanted to add him but didn’t have space for another hitting LH IF.
