The Maine Guides retake the power rankings lead after Seattle goes 3-3 and Maine goes...wait...3-3? Those Guides just have the love of the league we suspect. The best record of the week though belonged to the Pittsburgh Millers who went 6-0 with a 2.83 ERA. To say their pitchers are ecstatic with the off-season stadium remodel would be an understatement. The Racers also had a big week by going 5-1 while five teams went 4-2. On the flip side Miami, Baltimore, Phoenix, and New Orleans all went 1-5. Some team stat leaders of the week: New York crushed 12 home runs and scored 43 runs, Baltimore swiped 9 bases, Seattle K'd 52 batters, Batavia hummed along with a 1.95 ERA and Wilmington recorded 3 triples.

Performance of the Week
P Jamie Pierce - The 25 year old Pierce had a nine inning, three hit shutout on May 16th. On the season he is now 4-1 with a 3.29 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. He was the 18th overall pick in the 2027 draft and has turned into the captain of the Knights who are currently only a half game behind Washington for the Stout lead.
Injury of the Week
P Fredrick Wilson - The IFA from Mexico has struggled in his last few starts, including a five inning, seven earned run loss in late April. Then on May 3rd he only made it two innings against Indy before having to leave the game clutching his abdominal area. Tests showed an oblique strain that will keep him out for over a month. Not what the Dukes staff wants to see for someone on the payroll for over $100m the next seven years.
Prospect of the Week
CF Dave Marion - With the draft well underway we move back to the BLB farm systems to look for talent, and we start with the #1 prospect overall in Batavia's Dave Marion. The 3rd overall pick in the 2029 draft is currently in AAA after spending last year moving from A to AA. He is hitting .246 with 3 HR's and 11 RBI's in 33 games while compiling a -0.7 ZR in center field. Not to worry though about his slow start as scouts think his potential is off the charts, he can play all three outfield positions, and his speed is better than average.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Dave Davis of the Knights has a nice 21 game hitting streak going but his average is still below .300 as he checks in at .291...a far cry from the .208 he was hitting before the streak started though. He's a career .270 hitter and not who we expected to have the longest hitting streak so far of the season but good for Dave. The 29 year old is considered by many the best infielder in all the league and his work ethic has always been an inspiration to his teammates.
2. Who are these California Kodiaks? After the previous owner sold the team due to not being able to fire the GM they were the laughing stock of the league. Now they sit at 23-14 after appearing to find an offense that is 2nd in the IL in average, 3rd in OPS, and 1st in steals. Mike Morla is hitting .354 with 11 HR's and looks like he is 33 again...not a man about to turn 37.
3. When Joy-Shan Guo went down on May 8th it was because he got hit by a pitch, his 6th of the year. A week and a half later and he's still leading that dubious category for the league. His last six seasons he's been beaned 14, 14, 19, 14, 12, and 19 times. Taking almost 100 balls to the body since 2026 can't be good for anyone.
4. Tom Healy of Baltimore is an impatient man but it doesn't seem to slow him down. He hit .347 in his first 23 games last year and his hitting .311 this year, all while only seeing 2.9 pitchers per at bat, 2nd lowest in the league. The highest is Manny Queada of Phoenix who looks at almost 4.7 pitches at bat.
5. Syracuse did some recent shuffling via trade in order to have the cash to extend some of their key players and the first move was made as starter Pat Moore signed a 6 year contract extension for over $85m dollars on May 11th. The 28 year old is 4-1 on the year with a 2.15 ERA and 1.03 WHIP and was a 2nd round pick of the Freedom in 2024 before coming over to the Snappers in the Zachary Bradley trade.
