The Guides go 5-1 and continue their strangle hold on the league. At 19-5 they have the top pitching staff in the league and are at or near the top of almost every batting category as well. Meanwhile nine teams went 4-2 this past week and the logjams is piling up. In the Domestic there are seven teams that have between 11-13 wins and are just one game from being .500. Some team leaders of the week: LAD with 16 HR's, 55 total runs and a 1.003 OPS, Maine with a 1.92 ERA, Wilmington with 8 stolen bases, Baltimore with a .219 BABIP, Miami with 5 triples, and Pawtucket with 12 earned runs allowed.

Performance of the Week
1B Robby Caddell - Signed in the off-season for only $700k by LA because "I was sick of the rain in Seattle" Caddell lit up Denver on April 30th when he recorded five hits in five at bats, scored all five times, and drove in four during a 19-2 victory over the BC. On the season he's hitting .417 with 3 HR's, 10 RBI's and a 1.2 WAR and 231 wRC+.
Injury of the Week
P Dave Koehler - At 34 years old Koehler has never posted a losing season in the BLB, and he's been pitching since 2020. Unfortunately for him on April 28th against Indy he felt something tear in the 1st inning after striking out Ron Barnhill and a later MRI showed he had torn his rotator cuff and will likely be out the rest of the season. Originally drafted in the 2nd round of the 2015 draft this might be the end of a long and successful career where he recorded 167 victories with a 3.07 ERA and 1.03 WHIP.
Prospect of the Week
3B Adam Watson - The 20 year old from Cerritos, CA currently is a sophomore for the Ducks and is hitting .262/.401/.619 with 18 HR's and 40 RBI's in 44 games. He's also a very good outfielder with a cannon arm and decent speed on the base paths. Scouts say it "takes him a little longer to get it, but he gets it" and he is extremely loyal to his team.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Well it took the great one a little while to wake up but last week Turell 'Two Ton' Morris hit .304 with 5 HR's and 7 RBI's. He now leads the league with 12 home runs and is on pace for 81 after struggling the first two weeks of the season. Can he accomplish a 3rd straight 60+ HR season?
2. During the month of April the Wildcats led the league and stole 36 bases in 41 attempts. Jaime Rush was 11 for 12, Dave Hudson was 11 out of 13, and Kenichi Yasui was 7 for 7. Toronto finished last by stealing 2 bases in 4 attempts.
3. Milestone watch as Jamie O'Hearn approaches 600 career home runs. He currently sits at 593 after hitting two so far this season. Tom Lewis for Maine is closing in on 500 as he currently is at 471. Geoff Dail just hit the 500 steal mark as he now has 502. That makes him 155 short of the all-time record held by Jerry 'Roid' Daly. Finally at his current rate Mike Morla is expected to reach the 3000 mark for hits this year. He has 2852 and is on pace to finish at 3036 this season.
4. Maine continues to shine in the fielding department as their +11 ZR is tops in the league and over four points higher than 2nd place Windy City. Jamie Snyder at short stop can't hit as he currently has a .162 average but his +4.1 ZR leads the team.
5. It looks like the end of Ed 'Dropkick' Carroll's BLB career as he was recently placed on waivers by Phoenix, wasn't claimed by any other teams, and will be sent down to the minors. At 38 years old he was the 2nd overall pick in the 2011 draft by the New Orleans Dukes. He was traded to the Washington Bats in 2014 and made his BLB debut in 2016 at the age of 22. He then had arguably the greatest career in BLB history. Over the course of 17 season he went 197-127 with a 2.92 ERA and 1.01 WHIP. He was selected to nine All-Star games and won the coveted Pale Ale an unprecedented seven times in eight seasons. At 6'4 and 240 pounds he was as intimidating a force as you could find when he trotted out to the mound. If this is it 'Dropkick' then thank you for the memories.
