  • The 2032 Daily Keg - Week 3

    (AP)

"Maine, Maine, Go Away"...is what the rest of the GM's sing to their children at night before going to sleep. Once again the Guides are the class of the league with a 14-4 record after going 4-2 last week. The biggest week though belonged to Santo Domingo who after starting the season 2-11 reeled off six straight to get back to respectable. Also how about those California Kodiak's who went 5-1 and are 12-6 on the season. Denver and Los Angeles also went 5-1 to both move above .500 in the Bock. Some team stats of the week: SDR with a 1.67 ERA, Wilmington with 10 stolen bases, Miami and SDR with 13 home runs, Maine with 26 walks, and Seattle with only seven walks given up.

    Performance of the Week

2B Dave 'Bulldog' Bickford - The 27 year old Knight had quite a day against California on April 25th when he had six hits in six at bats, drove in four and scored three times himself during a 12-3 victory. The fan favorite was a 1st round pick in 2024 and has played second base for New York since 2027.

    Injury of the Week

P Scooter Nackers - In the all-New York edition the Knights don't want to see themselves make this headline. Nackers was pulled on April 24th against California after giving up a walk to Ricky Figueroa in the 3rd and complaining of elbow pain. An x-ray showed bone chips in his elbow which will require surgery to remove and keep Scooter sidelined for 4-5 months. On the year he was 2-0 with a 1.78 ERA.

    Prospect of the Week

LF Lincoln Miller - In Miller's three years in high school he has hit .436, .443, and now .402...giving him an average of .429 over 110 games. To say he's the best hitter in the draft wouldn't get a lot of arguments. He does have a few things going against him though as scouts say his eye is poor and he doesn't work as hard as others.

Five Things We Think We Think

    1. Poor Philly. After going 0-6 in two of the three weeks so far this season they now sit at 3-16. They have scored the 10th least runs while giving up the 10th most runs...not a good combination. With eight losses coming from the bullpen look for their veteran GM to either right the ship quick or start cleaning house.

    2. Three week in and lets hop on the California playoff train! Last year they finished with the leagues worst record and won 58 total games. This year after three weeks they are 20% to that total already. So far they are doing it with offense as they lead the IL in batting average, OBP, OBS, and stolen bases. Mike Morla is back to his old self and is hitting .379 with 4 HR's and 15 RBI's. This is all with their new "ace" in Dave Payette being 0-3 with a 7.43 ERA.

    3. Zachary Bradley for Santo Domingo came over via an off-season trade with the Freedom. So far he's hitting .459 with 6 HR's and 20 RBI's and is on pace for a 16.1 WAR. He signed a $140m contract extension after the trade and as of now looks to be worth every penny.

    4. Jamie Breed got the call-up in Washington after Dave Theisen went to the DL with a torn meniscus. We talked a few weeks ago how last season he was 4-1 with a 3.03 ERA in five starts and Washington pitching coach Johnny McDaniel was excited to see him get his chance. He aced his first test against New York by going nine innings and only allowing two earned runs. On the 21st though against Denver he made it all of three innings and was pulled after giving up nine earned runs. He's now 0-1 with a 8.25 ERA.

    5. The 2032 BLB draft is about to start and Hall of Fame voting is currently going on. Those two events are the beginning and end of a few special players careers and truly special occasions. We are the DK are looking forward to watching both of them unfold shortly.
