And the 2032 race to the Brewmaster's is off! So far we have three undefeated teams in Maine, Washington, and Wilmington while Seattle and New York only have one loss and sit at 5-1 and 4-1 respectively. Not to fear though for those teams that find themselves without a victory...Baltimore and Philly...or only have one win...Santo Domingo and Hartford...there are still 25 weeks left. Some team leaders this first week: Pawtucket with 9 home runs, Wilmington with 16 stolen bases, Washington with 37 runs scored, Wilmington with 7 runs allowed, and Seattle with only two home runs allowed.

Performance of the Week
2B Dave 'Cabfare' Davidson - The 22 year old for the Bats blistered the Carolina Tobs on opening day with four hits, two home runs, five runs batted in, and scored four times himself in a 17-5 victory. Drafted with the 17th overall pick of the 2027 draft he was in the A ball All-Star game in 2028 and 2029 and AAA All-Star game in 2030 and will be looking to make his first BLB All-Star game this season.
Injury of the Week
P Dave Theisen - He threw an absolute gem in his first appearance of the season opening day but on April 11th he made it five innings before having to leave with knee pain. An MRI showed he tore his meniscus which means he will need surgery and be out at least four months. A huge blow for a team that the DK picked to win it all but he should come back healthy with time to spare before the playoffs.
Prospect of the Week
1B Ethan McGovern - The 16 year old from Las Vegas is hitting .383 with 9 HR's and 29 RBI's in 19 games so far this season. He has led Basic to back to back high school championships and scouts love his power potential.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. The injury to Dave Theisen changes the landscape of the IL for the time being. Theisen, Pat Arballo, and Jacob Stokes were going to be the dominant 1-2-3 while the Bats hoped for good performances out of Dusty Borchers and Ron Horton. Borchers came through against LAD with an 8 inning, 1 earned run outing but lets see how he does moving up a spot in the rotation. Look for AAA Jamie Breed to get the call-up to fill in after Theisen gets moved to the DL. Last season for the Bats he was 4-1 with a 3.03 ERA in five games.
2. The Dukes were fired up over the DK season predictions where they missed the playoffs and they came out hot going 5-2. Fredrick Wilson, the man with two first names in his first name, was 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA, 11 K's, and 1 walk. Apparently the BLB isn't all that different from the league south of the border he was a star in before heading north this off-season. Enrique Bernardi also started out on fire by going 2-0 with a 1.15 ERA. The choice by New Orleans not to spend $40m on 1B Joy-Shan Guo and buy a few pitchers instead has paid off so far.
3. Wilmington loves to steal bases and they do it at such a successful rate it's absurd. This past week Dave Hudson was 5 for 5 and Jaime Rush was 5 for 6, while the team overall was 16 out of 17. If you are playing the Wildcats and have a catcher that can throw people out it might be time to get him in the game.
4. Tom Lewis for Maine is 38 years old. Tom Lews hit four home runs this week and leads the BLB. Tom Lewis now has 466 career home runs...10th all-time. We keep saying his name because he's not a name you think of when it comes to being a prolific home run hitter. Since 2018 though at the age of 24 he's hit 30 or more home runs 10 times, and he's looking to make it 11.
5. Series of the week has to be the four games that Baltimore travels to Philly from April 15-18th. So far both teams are win less with Philly being 0-6 and Baltimore being 0-5. The Bulldogs start the week at home against Denver while Philly stays at home against Seattle. In the first week Baltimore struggled to score as their 12 overall runs are last in the IL. Philly meanwhile struggled on the mound as their team ERA of 6.09 is 11th in the IL. Both GM's though are long time veterans who won't panic and will trust their off-season moves to eventually pan out, but starting 0-fer makes for a lot of anxiety anyways.
