1B Joy-shan Guo - On July 25th against Wilmington Guo hit homeruns in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd inning all against Efren 'Jet' Prestianni. On the day he finished with eight runs batted in and two walks. His game score of 126 is good for 2nd place behind his teammate Zachary Schumacher.
Injury of the Week
1B Erik LaBruzzo - In 87 games this season he's hitting .253 with 14 HR's and 45 RBI's. That came to an end on July 25th against Pawtucket as he was beaned in the 4th inning by Tony Castillo on 1-2 inside pitch. After holding his hand for a while and walking to first he was removed from the game. X-rays showed two separate breaks and he's expected to be out almost two months.
Prospect of the Week
RF J.D. 'Hurricane' Rice - Selected with the 12th overall pick of the 2029 draft by Baltimore he is currently ranked #28 in the OSA Top 100 Prospect list. He was in Rookie ball in '29, started there but moved to A ball in '30, and moved up to AA this season. Currently he's hitting .264 with 12 HR's and 48 RBI's with a 1.5 WAR.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Time to see how things shake out post All-Star break. All teams have either played 97, 98, or 99 games and right now it looks like we have seven teams in each league competing for six playoff spots. Strategy, injuries, trades, surprise call-ups...anything can happen.
2. Speaking of the All-Star break the game wasn't quite the offensive show we've come to see over the years as the IL shut out the DL by the score of 2-0. The player of the game was Tom Stark of Windy City who hit a 400 foot home run off of Gil Small of Hartford in the 6th and had this to say "It might be a little lower intensity than the regular season or playoffs, but everyone in that clubhouse still wants to win this game." Also the new IL and DL logos made their debut as can be seen in the box score below.

3. Series of the week goes to Denver at Washington, both the #1's in the Import. Denver leads the season series 5-4 in what is the last meeting between these two in the regular season. So far in the nine games there have been five one-run games and one extra inning game. Denver's starters have put up a 3.02 ERA while Washington's checks in at 3.64. The big difference though is in bullpens where Denver's has lost two games in the series and has a 7.16 ERA while Washington's has a 4.82.
4. Interesting week by Pat Bingham of Batavia. Selected in the 3rd round of the 2025 draft he's become one of the best defensive catchers in the game. Offensively though he struggles. In his 130 bats prior to the All-Star break he had 30 hits and 2 HR's. In his 4 at bats since the break he's had 2 hits and 2 HR's.
5. Hartford has 62 wins, good enough for 2nd best in the league. They also have the 4th best rated farm system. This is from an organization that won their 1st Brewmaster's last season and prior to that had been to the playoffs only five times since 1999. Give that GM a raise.
