The Exports are now on top after a big 6-1 week thanks to a sweep of Hartford and taking three of four from Toronto. They now have a 3.5 game lead over the Rum Runners in the Lager. After last season going 82-80 and barely missing the playoffs the GM and fans have to be ecstatic at their teams performance. Miami was the other team who had a big week, going 6-1 as well. Take away May where the Sharks went 9-19 and were the worst hitting team in the BLB and this team is .500 and in the midst of the playoff race. On the flip side last week's #1 went 1-5 as Hartford fell to Montreal and lost two of three to Syracuse. Some notable team leading stats for the week: Wilmington stole 13 bases, LAD hit 15 home runs, Syracuse had a 2.00 ERA, and Hartford only allowed three home runs.

Performance of the Week
P Louie Reutter - On June 14th against Pawtucket the 24 year old pitched a three hit shutout with six strikeouts and only one walk. Last season he finished 2nd in the Pale Ale race and this year he's 5-2 with a 3.18 ERA and 1.6 WAR in 13 games started. For as good as a young player he is he'd be tops on many "Guys You've Never Heard Of" list.
Injury of the Week
CF Ezekiel Redford - After starting the year in AAA Long Island he was called up to the BLB and in 31 games has been on fire. Hitting .349/.395/.431 with 13 RBI's he's also patrolled center and committed no errors in 99 chances with a ZR of -1.7. Unfortunately for Redford on June 15th in the top of the 8th he went down hard after diving to catch a line drive by Robby James. He was diagnosed with a fractured shoulder blade and will be out for a month.
Prospect of the Week
CF Dave Marion - The 22 year old center fielder for Batavia started the year in A but is currently in AA and hitting .305/.370/.549 with 8 HR's and 36 RBI's in 43 games. He was the 1.3 pick in the 2029 draft and is considered one of the top prospects in the BLB. He was born in San Antonio and went to Oregon State to play baseball where he helped the Beavers win back to back NCAA titles in '28 and '29 by hitting .404 with 49 HR's and 139 RBI's in his two seasons there.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. After months of scouting the tough decisions were finally made and the 2031 draft is over. Some players that immediately cracked the OSA Top 100: #6 Seth Blankenship (1.3, SYR), #12 Dawson Davis (1.6, CHI), #19 Martin Christensen (1.4, CAR), #21 Rory Elia (1.8, CAR), #35 Robert Jessee (1.1, TOR), #37 Marco Taylor (1.3, BAT), #38 Melvin Agee (1.14, TOR), #49 Edwin Briggs (1.5, IND), #61 Charles Farris (1.21, SEA), #83 Ethan Binger (1.22, WAS), #85 Marcos Savage (1.9, LAD), and #100 Edwin Meck (1.12, SYR). Phoenix has the #1 farm system in the BLB now followed by Carolina, Windy City, Hartford and Syracuse.
2. The series we mentioned last week between Washington and Seattle was another barn burner. Washington took two of three but one of those was a 9-8 victory in 10 by the Bats after both teams hit a combined nine home runs. The first game of the series had Washington win 8-4 after scoring five in the 8th and 9th while the final game of the series had Seattle win 12-8 after scoring six in the 7th and 8th. Whoever had the good fortune of attending all those games got their money's worth and then some.
3. Where has Wes Perry gone? Two seasons ago he was 28-1 with a 2.03 ERA in arguably the greatest season by any pitcher in BLB history. That same year he was given a six year contract totaling $126 million. Fast forward to now and he is 3-7 with a 6.42 ERA after going 8-16 with a 4.06 ERA last season. He's tied with Hoon Park and Jaime Stone at the 6th highest paid pitcher in the game but has a -0.3 WAR. Meanwhile Ian Ammons of Hartford is 8-0 with a 2.94 ERA, 2.3 WAR, and making $280,000.
4. Montreal is +5 in PYT, highest in the league. They are 4-0 in extra innings and 12-6 in one run games. Their division rival Santo Domingo is -4 in PYT as they are 3-5 in extra innings and 10-14 in one run games. These teams are separated by 3.5 games in the Lager. Some other random standings musings...Maine and Washington are both +92 in run differential, Pittsburgh and Batavia are the only teams with winning records that are negative in RD and Toronto is down 104 runs to their opponents.
5. Jamie 'Grumpy' Hutter went down this week with a strained ab muscle while running the bases against Phoenix and will be out for over a month. At only 24 he's had a bad run of day to day injuries over his years but managed to played 152 games last season and 155 in 2029. He lead the league both years in stolen bases with 60 last year and 62 the year before. He is currently 3rd this year with 26 behind Jaime Rush (29) and Ricky Figueroa (30). He will be a big loss for Windy City.
