The Washington Bats pull off the rare 7-0 week with sweeps of Batavia and Windy City. In those series the Bats outscored their hapless opponents 46-14. Other great weeks were California (5-1), Philly (5-1), Maine (5-2), and Santo Domingo (5-2). Not so great weeks were Windy City (1-6) and Phoenix (1-5). Sad stat of the week belongs to Denver who had an amazing 1.41 ERA for the week and allowed only 15 runs, but only scored 16 runs themselves and went 3-4.

Performance of the Week
P Jaime 'Banshee' Stone - All though it didn't register on the Top Performances for the season Stone had quite a game on August 18th against Seattle. He went the entire 10 innings and allowed only three runs (unearned) on four hits in the Freedom's 4-3 victory. The 35 year old is in his first full season with Philly and is 11-6 with a 3.21 ERA in 24 game started. In his other start of the week he went 7 innings, struck out 11, and allowed one run in a victory over Carolina.
Injury of the Week
P Tom Gowans - On August 13th against Montreal, Gowans got the start and gave up a triple to start the game. He then got a routine ground out but called for the manager to come out. Grimacing in pain he was replaced by CJ Wells and Gowans headed into the clubhouse. An MRI later revealed a torn rotator cuff and he's expected to be out for several months. Taken by Maine in the 7th round of the 2025 draft he was traded to SDRR in 2029 and was having a great year. The 22 year old was 10-4 with a 3.28 ERA and the Rum Runners front office is hoping for a full recovery.
Prospect of the Week
RF Benji Allgood - Hitting must run in the Allgood family as Benji is the younger cousin of LAD third basemen Tom 'The Skull' Allgood. This past season for the Basic Wolves, Allgood hit .407 with 20 HR's and 78 RBI's in 40 games. He led Basic to the HS Championship over Carroll where he hit one HR and drove in four in the two games.
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Johnny Swope's 2030 campaign: Four Player of the Week Awards, Two Batter of the Month Awards, .373, 41 HR's, 111 RBI's, 9.5 WAR. Turell Morris' 2030 campaign: Five Player of the Week Awards, Three Batter of the Month Awards, .345, 56 HR's, 138 RBI's, 7.0 WAR. Obviously these two have gotten a lot of press this season and deservedly so. Swope is on pace for one of, if not the best overall hitting performance of all time, and is the Triple Crown leader for the IL. Meanwhile Morris is now two away from tying the single season home run record and 19 away from tying the single season RBI record. He's also projected to break the single season runs record of 152 that has been around for 39 seasons.
2. California has traded away most of their star players, have admitted they are playing for the future, yet go 5-1 and are now only four back in the IL wildcard behind the struggling Bulldogs. Baltimore though has a 90% chance of getting that spot while California comes in at just under 3%. The main reason is that California has the hardest remaining schedule of any team in the entire BLB. Their September features series against Seattle, Philly, Denver, Seattle again, New York, and Baltimore. Ouch!
3. In the running for Performance of the Week was Pat Arballo who over two starts was 2-0 in 16 IP with 15 K's, 1 BB, and no earned runs. The 25 year old was picked 1.3 by Death Valley in 2022 and traded to Washington in 2024. He was rated the #1 prospect in 2026 and made his BLB debut that year as well. This season he's 17-2 with a 2.38 ERA and is the favorite to win the IL Pale Ale. He's a natural born leader and is already one of the team captains.

The not so cheap ones: Toronto's Erik Jackson (-0.8 WAR, $26m), California's CJ Stripling (-0.8 WAR, $12.5m), and Toronto's Dave Coady (-0.5 WAR, $18m).
