The Freedom from Philadelphia post the best record of the week as they go 5-1 with a three game sweep of LAD and their only loss coming to Washington in extra innings. New York and Seattle also had great weeks at 5-2 while the previous mentioned Dino's went 0-6 and Carolina went back to their Tob ways by going 1-5.

Performance of the Week
P Al Knapp - On a June 2nd victory over LAD Knapp went 8.1 innings and gave up no runs, four hits, and struck out six. In his 3rd team in as many years Knapp is 2-1 with a 3.12 ERA. In his previous start on June 26th he was injured after only pitching 2.0 innings so this was a big deal for the Philly organization.
Injury of the Week
LF Dave 'Tapper' Ingram - On July 1st in a trade that sent so many players to Toronto that it broke the commissioners fax machine the Pawtucket Patriots acquired Tapper in hopes of sparking the offense. On July 3rd against New Orleans he hit a huge home run in the 7th that sent his new hometown fans into a frenzy. In the 8th Jamie Uva hit a long fly ball to left field which Ingram chased down but in the process sprained his left knee. He is expected to be out another month. Maybe Toronto will give a refund?
Prospect of the Week
3B Dawson 'Wedge' Davis - The 16 year old from Ohio just finished his 2nd year at Cullman HS and has caught the scouts eyes to say the least. Not only did he have a 37 game hitting streak but he hit 23 home runs in 40 games and was selected to his second straight HS All-Star game. He is a coaches dream as scouts say he "studies the game like no other and will give you 100% effort on and off the field to improve his game."
Five Things We Think We Think
1. Think there is still some bad blood from the Seattle/New York post-season series last year...ya us too. We didn't get a chance to cover it last week but on July 29th these two met in a Seattle 9-5 victory. The big story though was in the 3rd when Seattle shortstop Ian Harris hit a two run home run. Hideki Nakayama came up to bat next and was drilled on the first pitch with a T.J. Rountree 99 MPH fastball in the back. A bench clearing brawl resulted and both players were suspended. Jimmy Edge then came up to bat against Yi Ou-yang and hit another two run home run. Robby Caddell was up next and surprisingly was not very enthusiastic to hit and struck out looking.
2. Dylan Owens has woken up! After being called out in last weeks Daily Keg he went 5-5 against Santo Domingo on July 5th with three runs and two runs batted in. After getting his 2500th career hit a few weeks many believe he's on the downside in his 14th season but he's now hitting .260 with 10 HR's with 43 RBI's.
3. For the first time all season Turell Morris didn't have a remarkable week, in fact he had a horrible week. In 29 at bats he hit .138 with 1 HR and 1 RBI. Is July the month he finally comes back to earth? He's only on pace for 75 HR's and 200 RBI's now...only? In the quest for .400 Jaime Rush his .296 this week and now has to hit .418 the rest of the way. It was fun while it lasted but we think this dream is over. In Triple Crown news Johnny Swope is still in command and easily ahead in HR's and RBI's but Tom 'Cookie' Clark from Baltimore is hitting .354 to Swope's .362 and is gaining ground.
4. The press in California has been all over their third base coach this season and he didn't help his cause on July 6th. With Mike Morla on 1st, Jaden Bunch hit a slow roller single to the outfield. Morla was waved on to 3rd by the aforementioned coach where he was thrown out while sliding into the base. Morla came up cradling his hand and he was removed from the game. Several fans started tossing beers towards the coach and order had to be restored by stadium security. After the game Morla's hand was very swollen and he could be out for several weeks.
5. Baltimore continues to run, run, run on the bases. They are up to 108 stolen bases on the year while being caught 26. Hartford meanwhile has 13 stolen bases total. Tom Clark leads the team with an amazing 26 stolen bases out of 28 attempts.
