Baltimore pulls off the ultra-rare 7-0 week as they ascend to the top of the power rankings. With a four game sweep of Carolina and a three game sweep of Windy City the Bulldogs are 13-2 in June and one game behind Maine and Seattle, who both went 6-1, for the best record in the league. On the other side Carolina got double swept as they went 0-7 on the week. They had company though as the red hot Millers cooled off and also went 0-7.

Performance of the Week
OF Tom 'Cookie' Clark - On June 14th in a crazy shootout between Baltimore and Windy City Clark had two HR's and drove in five runs. His grand slam in the 11th was part of a seven run inning that gave Baltimore a 14-9 win. On the season Cookie is hitting .360 with 14 HR's and 43 RBI's. He's also swiped 19 bases and is one of the reasons Baltimore leads the league with 84 stolen bases.
Injury of the Week
SP Bill Roman - The Exports pulled off a huge trade on June 3rd with Syracuse to get Roman and Hoon Park in hopes of a Lager title. Both have pitched well in their new home but on June 14th against Pittsburgh the trade came crumbling down. In the 8th inning after getting Oscar D'Addona to fly out Roman immediately signaled to the dugout and left cradling his right arm. The diagnosis showed he suffered a torn elbow ligament and will be out for almost a year. A crushing blow to the Exports to say the least. Maybe 'Cuse will give a refund.
Prospect of the Week
CF Badda Kinyua, HAR - The 18 year old was discovered by the Hartford organization out of Nigeria on 3/14/29. From then to now he's shot up to the #13 player in the Prospect Top 100. He's currently hitting .270 in the Rookie league and if he develops could be a star. Scouts say he has a great work ethic and "advocates a regimen of gradual accumulations. Won't force it."
Five Things We Think We Think
1. The 34 game hit streak by Jamie Hunter came to an end on June 11th against Seattle and Pang Shuai. Since then in five games Hunter has 11 hits. If he could have just found a way to get one against the Pilots he might have shattered the record of 35. The current streak is now held by Freedom third basemen Johnny "Twig" Berry (serious?) who's hit safely in 21 straight.
2. The Baltimore-Windy City series was nuts. On June 14th, as talked about above, they went 11 innings and Baltimore won 14-9 after Baltimore scored two in the 9th to tie it, both teams scored three in the 10th and Baltimore scored seven in the 11th. The next night Baltimore scored one in the 9th to win 6-5. Then on June 16th Baltimore again scored one in the 9th to tie. After six innings of scoreless baseball the Bulldogs scored in the top of the 16th. With two outs in the bottom of the 16th Johnny Powell hit a single and Garret Windham tried to go from 2nd to home for the tie but got thrown out to end the game. The craziest part of the box score though was Windy City starting pitcher Fred Sarazin going for 13.2 innings and throwing 175 pitches! In his last three starts Sarazin has lowered his ERA from 4.72 to 3.31.
3. We keep talking about him but Maine's Turell Morris had 3 more HR's and 10 more RBI's this past week. He's on pace for 75 home runs and 221 run batted in. Both would be records to say the least as the current records are 58 and 157 respectively. Too bad Jaime Rush is also in the Domestic otherwise he would have a decent shot at the Triple Crown. Speaking of Rush he hit a pedestrian .333 last week and is now at .409. He has to hit .395 the rest of the way to stay above .400.
4. We love seeing these guys: In the IL Baltimore is 8-1 vs Batavia and 7-1 vs Carolina. Seattle is 6-0 vs Carolina. Chicago is 6-0 vs Batavia. Over in the DL Wilmington is 6-0 vs Hartford. Maine is 6-0 vs Toronto. Pittsburgh is 6-0 vs Toronto. Pawtucket is 6-0 vs Pittsburgh.
5. The single season record for runs is 152 which was set by both Mel Woodbury and Hector Chavez in 1991. In a tie for 2nd place at 150 was Dale O'Hegarty who also set the record in 1991. That Virginia team was a powerhouse!
