  • The History of Ivan Castrillon

Hello! My name is Ivan, I am 16 years old and I am original from Buenos Aires, a beautiful City which serves as the Capital of Argentina.

You probably are thinking, who in the hell I am, and what right do I have to write in the BLB Forum. Well, let me talk to you.

I am the new signing of the Miami Sharks International Complex, and signed a Minor League Contract with a signing Bonus of $2.5M, so I probably made more money this month, that you will earn in 10 or 15 years working full time.

    How my history starts?

I discovered my passion for baseball, while I was watching the BLB on streaming few years ago, I was 8 and the Dallas Sharks just won their 2nd Ring!! What a massive achievement for Sharkn20, who was new to the Baseball business.
I started explaining to my friends how to play in the park. I remember some of us taking some brooms and sponge balls every evening after School and playing until our mothers had to take us back Home before sunset. Then in High School I joined one the team, where I made an impact playing 3B straight away. I don't like running much, but my arm is strong as hell and I can read where the IFs are to squeeze the ball in the gaps.

We just won the High School League and while I applied for a Scholarship in various universities in the United States, I only had "No" as a reply, stating that I was too young, and I would benefit to play some High School baseball in the States first.

Then my father just learnt about a possibility to apply for a BLB circuit entry through the International Amateur Free Agency, we filled in the paperwork and we sent it to BradZ and Matt, they are good people the 2 main commissioners of the league. They put my name down in the list and I started to receive offers almost straight away, I was really surprise about the fuzz and the eagerness of some of the teams:

My Scout card reads as it follows:
High expectations for Castrillon / Projects to have above-average contact ability. He has a decent swing and adjusts quickly to pitchers / Strong and mature, Castrillon will grow into a power hitter. He's got good pop going the other way / Unspectacular eye / Castrillon is inconsistent with his fielding / Running isn't a part of his game.

Sharkn20 invited me for a visit with my family to Miami, and I fell in love with the City, the beaches, the rhythm of life and the vibrancy of the city. Oh my Lord, all of these young girls in Bikini, I just love this. I expressed to Sharkn20 my interest to join the Sharks Minor League System, but he would've to extend a huge check that looks after my family and all my studies while I am developing as a player.

Sharkn20 offered me $2.5M and my father and my mother burst into tears straight away, asking me to accept and move to Miami.

Not many players from Argentina had the chance to play for the BLB, with just CF Mauricio Cadena (WAS) currently having a BLB contract, however he is playing mostly in AAA this year. But I would really like to make history in this league.

Sharkn20 told me that the team has High expectations for me, that one day I could be an above-average power hitter. I can't wait for the Rookie league to start next year and face pitchers from all over the World!!!

I hope so... My $5 000 000 investment for Gutierrez was a total waste, but good times since it was the first year to make offers!
