  • It had to be done

It was coming. And that’s okay.

I wouldn’t change anything, I’ll always be who I am, and my regret would be that I didn’t say more had I known that would be the last thing I would say.

But that’s not the reason why I’m gone, and again, it’s okay. I earned it. The best thing for the league happened. Just like it was best for the league to have an owner switch from an IL team to take over a cash flush team that boasts the best young player in the game. Best for the league.

It will be best for the league when someone takes over the team in Pittsburgh, hopefully someone new and not a currently established guy. The franchise they’re inheriting is ideal. There’s a ton of talent, at the highest level down to the single A bats that were picked up off the scrap heap. The best part about them....is that the finances are great. They’ll inherit a top 10 system, an all world player who’ll break records, and a clean sheet.

In reality, this is how it HAD to happen.

I died when Paulino walked me off against Toronto right after Jamie O’Hearn hit a home run in the top of the 9th. That was it, that was the moment where I realized that it doesn’t matter anymore. 17 playoff appearances in 19 seasons will be the legacy. Never a pennant. Never sniffed a cup. Much to the happiness of many.

I had spoken to Brad about how I was one foot in- one foot out and had somethings shaken out career wise, then it would have been time for me to leave. They didn’t happen, but the feeling never left, my heart was no longer in it. I would have never quit, because that’s not what I’m about. I’d always make time to be active, to engage (for better or worse) and give everything I have to the league. Never will there be someone who will love the Pittsburgh Millers as much as I did.

But it was time to go, and Brad took me out behind the barn, and gave me the old yeller treatment. In a way, it ended the actual pain that I felt with those losses. After every night spending hours doing the smallest changes to the organization, constantly thinking about it, and agonizing after losses....it was time. It had to be that way.

This post means more to me than ... well, more than it probably should for a sim league. The goodbye to me, was paramount. I remember speaking with bdud when he asked me “why’d you get the boot?”

I hadn’t known I was removed from the league. But, sure enough, no more slack access, and an “unintentionally” deactivation of my account on sgn....

Now, I’m an asshole, always have been, always will be.... I’ve certainly ruffled feathers.... but boy, that hurt. More than being removed (bc let’s be honest we knew it was ending that way right?) ... that was it. After everything I’ve experienced in this league, everything.... that. That ... fuckin hurt man.

I’d agrue that nobody cared more for this league then I did, and combine caring with emotions and passion that I have for whatever I do.....and combine it with some asshole who’s grown up in Philly AND New Jersey....it’s an explosion.

I’ll never bite my lip. You’ll always know where you stand with me.

Im going to miss the back and forth with so many of you....about 80% of you.

FC - you’re a legend man. Thanks for being a great rival.

Shark - don’t take any shit from anyone. You’re a stud.

JJ- I’ll be driving through your area in a few weeks on my way to Florida. Let’s link up.

D- my favorite GM of all time.

Pat - goat. Period. Thanks for engaging me in hate, but also thanks for having my back.

Carlos- love you dude! Back and forth, I’m sure you’ve had plenty of reasons to hate me, and have, but I take peace knowing that we ended good.

Bdub - Truly a friend, happy to say that you’re a friend in real life, not just here.

Spear - That rebuild to a championship was beautiful. You fucking did it. You’re a great rival, and I’m incredibly thankful for your initial help to set up the game the first time.

Jake - Man, you fucking hated me. But you were my first real trade. Ruben Luna. Thanks for being a competitor.

Ryan - never got a chance to welcome you back into the league, but I’m glad you’re taking over Wilmington. Shit, if you waited you might have had a better situation!! Good luck in that Division!

Sully- you hated me. But you’re an all time great...and I’m glad I was able to compete with you.

Paul - check those finances now!!! JK man, I saw your pm...means a lot man, thanks for everything.

The rest of the guys....Liquid, Spectre, Squid, nelmsm, and anyone else, thanks for being competitors.

Robby D- my best friend in this world. Man, it was amazing spending countless nights talking about the BLB with you. I’m alllllll in on that new Dukes core bro. It’s going to be epic soon!

Z - Fucking Z.....first of all you’re an asshole for bringing this pompous arrogant asshole into the league!!!! But I’m thankful that you did. Thanks for this, and thanks for being a great friend.

Finally, Brad. Thanks. I’m not happy about the way it ended up....but boy....you put up with some shit. And you still gave me the chances....thank you for finally ending it.

Mike, nothing else I can say but... you're right. I thought you were a real asshole.

But we did have some great negotiations. And I'm honored you mentioned me 6 months after I left. Good luck with everything.

Not really interested in a back and forth but your account was never deactivated. You were removed from the BLB Owners group which revokes access to the owners forum and may have caused a temporary issue with PM's due to the BLB Owners group having a higher limit for stored PM's than the Regular Users group.

        Adios Mike.

Without Mike asking me to Co-Gm that one season I might not have got the itch to BLB again.

For all Mike’s flaws, and we are all flawed, he raised the competition level which I always appreciate.

Mike , you were Soviet to my USA (yes im USA!). Gonna miss the rivalry we had though you generally were the constant and I was a bit more feast or famine.

Sure we bucked heads every so often, but I'm not 100% perfect either on certain items. At some point FC bucks head with everyone. Heck I even needed to take a 1+ season break , basically took a step back to
get some perspective on this whole league. Maybe Mike this happens on your end also. It really did help me out in the end and hope it shows.

The Ale isn't a sissy mans division for sure. Things can get heated. Won't speak for the rest of the BLB owners since sure we all have different personalities, but personally I enjoyed the rivalry and competition.

Definitely going to miss having you around. Like I said before, we shared a lot of the same sensibilities with regards to team building and whatnot. I will hold down the BLB analytics department in a manner not unlike Eazy E keeping NWA together post Ice Cube.

Mike I am not happy at all seeing you go... Hopefully at some point you will get the parole and comeback to the BLB... At least for me it won't be the same, you and Pat taught me a lot about baseball and if I got the 2 rings was because you stablish the pathway for me to drive on it...

You also put some rocks for me in that pathway to make me learn the "hard way" of this business.
