  • Question of the Day?

Assuming he plays elsewhere in 2021 and beyond, who's hat does Jamie McPherson wear in the HOF? Los Angeles or Denver?

"Is Jamie McPherson a Hall of Famer?" might be the better question.

He has fewer WAR than Heishu Shiraishi (an actual outfielder), Harry Elliott (a catcher), Joe Delarruz (a shortstop), and Jared Kirby (mostly a catcher), who are not in the Hall.

He has fewer hits than Curt Dodson (a third baseman), Kirby, Takanibu Sato, Leonel Tesina, and Noah George (a second baseman), who are not in the Hall.

He has fewer home runs than Wessin Ramirez, Ishmael Reyes, Tyler Quinn, Don McGuire, and Kirby, who are not in the Hall.

He has a lower career batting average than Joe Lopez, Antonio Banuelos, Terumoto Chiba, and Hector Coronel, who are not and will not be in the Hall.

Maybe I'm just still holding a grudge over his time in Maine and missing the fact that he's a slam dunk Hall of Famer, but I don't think he is.

To answer your question, I would say Los Angeles.

He's 4th All-Time in offensive win shares behind Woodbury, Guzman and Gremades. If he plays another handful of seasons, he might go down as #1.

He's top 5 in OPS, RC/27, wOBA, etc.

He was never a great fielder and that hurts his WAR but when you consider he played over 1,000 games in CF, I think that helps his case.

As for the question, he played more games in Denver and was drafted by them. His WAR is hurt because he played CF in Denver, while DH/LF in LAD. The win shares is very close. Had his best post-season runs in Denver, but never was clutch in the playoffs.

I think he's first ballot and I'm leaning Denver but it's close.

To me, he's a slam dunk, 1st ballot HOF. One of the best hitters in BLB history.

I wasn't in the league for any of his time in Denver, but it looks like a tossup as to what team he represents. I'm inclined to say LA, since that's what i'll remember.

The game will probably choose LA when it's all said and done.

All I'm saying is he wasn't named McPhenom in LA.
