Nice to see Rivera crack the leaderboard. He hasn't hit the way I hoped he would, but he's still young.

Joey Long, the #8 overall pick, has been sidetracked by injuries. But I still have high hopes for him as a starting pitcher.

I should have put Dave Harmon in the Notables category. He's been pretty clearly the best reliever in this draft.

Fortunately, your first round pick, Mireles, hasn't yet worked out as well.

You do, however, have one 2015 draftee in your organization. TJ Hock (6th round, IND) is on your AA team.

Lucky me. He's a place holder until rookies are entered.

Although he has struggled out of the gate this season, one of the players I love from this draft is Sisson. Him and Toronto's Jamie Kitchen represent the new age BLB 3B.

I still have some hope for Ian McCallister who I traded up for. He has the power I drafted him for so far.

For the Bats, the 2015 Draft Class looked like this:

1.23 - Jayden Jones - At the time I said:

"I'm happy to get Jayden Jones at 23. He was 10th on my scouts draft list, my scout sees him just like OSA does. Nothing spectacular, but could be a solid starter if it works out. Also listed as durable, so that's a plus."

And that's pretty much how it worked out. He's a solid starter, but he's not on my team. He went to Philly as part of a trade that landed Israel Morales. Last season he went 15-8 with a 2.19 ERA, thanks at least a little bit to the fielding behind him.

2.13 - Dave Koehler - Covered him in the piece. When I picked him, I posted:

"Ended up going with Dave Koehler, a High School SP. Not thrilled about it, but both my scout and OSA give him a 7 for control (5-4-7). He's put up some good strikeout numbers in high school, so I'm hoping his stuff will progress. Or his movement. Something. He's also got decent ratings for a 17 year old."

Bingo. Sometimes I get lucky and say something that turns out looking smart. I am much more thrilled about it now.

3.23 - Tom Kurtz - I didn't post about him at the time. Kurtz looks like a good reliever, according to my scout. He's ready for the BLB now, but I don't have a spot for him on the 25 man roster.

4.23 - Rutger Stacy - Another pitcher, making my first four picks all pitchers. He was pretty good in college, his ratings are okay, but it's unlikely he'll ever play a significant role.

5.23 - Noburu Shigematsu - The only other player I mentioned at the time:

"I'm still picking and took LF Noburo Shigematsu. My scout likes him a lot for whatever reason, and he's put up some good numbers this season. So, when I cut him in a couple seasons, know that my scout was high on him at draft time."

He's in AAA now. He can't field, but he's hit ok in the minors. I doubt he plays in the BLB.

One other guy, my sixth round pick Dave Smith, is still in my system. Very high Work Ethic and Intelligence, and he's pitched pretty well in A and AA. Looks like a fringe guy to me. He's #16 in my system, according to the game.

Awesome writeup, LC. I was just feeling a little down about drafting Aidan Johnson. I think he'll be a good reliever, but I don't know that he ever makes a long run in our rotation. Going back and seeing that it was just a down draft makes that idea a little easier to swallow. I also didn't realize what a get Tressler was midway through the 2nd. I'm a Tressler fan, but didn't realize that he has been the standout so far from that round of that draft.

I really like that you guys have the wherewithall to go back and do these evaluations down the road like this. It adds a ton to the league for me. It's also intimidating that you guys have enough knowledge of the league as a whole to do these things.

As the guy that owns TJ Scott, if he's in the Top 5 in WAR, that draft was not very good.

It's not a fair comparison, since the extra year means a lot this early in their careers, but the 2014 draft is much better (duh). For instance, our top player so far from 2015, Upton, would rank 24th by WAR in the 2014 class. The 2016 class already has 5 players with more than 8.5 WAR, despite one fewer year.

Yep. 2016 is definitely the proof that 2015 is missing some screws.

That being said, I still like Scott. He's very young. He has potentials better than his performance the past two seasons. I still have hope for him and he's our starting RF because he can play defense there.

My scout continues to say that Newkirk could become a star, but he hasn't really shown much, offensively at least, in his minor-league career thus far.

I'm hoping he eventually figures it out. If he could at least be an every day utility guy, I'd be happy.
