The 19 year old from San Jose, CA who played his high school ball in Maine will become the first Brewers League player born in the 2000s.
He replaces the recently injured Steve Suarez on the active roster and will start in left field, with Masao Nara shifting to right field.
The organization offered no comment as to the team's alignment upon Suarez's return.
Smith batted .307 with a .901 on-base-plus-slugging in 43 games at AAA affiliate Portsmouth after having been promoted there from AA Bar Harbor earlier in the season.
The eighth overall pick in the 2017 Brewers League Baseball Draft, Smith has consistently placed highly on prospect rankings over the last three seasons.
