Former 10th overall pick who IIRC sat in Free-Agency for two straight years demanding a respectable BLB contract and no one bit. Then he retired. I think at the time OSA and most scouts had him a "3" contact which scared everyone away. Pretty sure he was either "wrecked" or "fragile" as well.

That's how I remember it, too.

I can't believe Gargoyle didn't have 15 saves or more at 40+ but it's true. Good stuff.

            * The 2009 Denver BC holds the 21st-century record for most runs scored by a team in a single season.

            * The 2012 Hartford Whalers hold the 21st-century record for most runs allowed by a team in a single season.

            * The 2016 Pawtucket Patriots set a league record by allowing only 459 runs (2.83 per game) in a season.

            * The 2003 Death Valley Scorpions own the league record for fewest runs scored in a season.

            * The 1996 Denver Bulls own the league record — by far — for most times being hit by a pitch in a single season, with 106 hit batters.

            * The 1995 Davenport Brawlers blew a league record 35 saves. The next highest total is only 30.

            * Defenses have gotten better in the BLB over the years. Of the 100 teams with the highest error totals in a single season, only ten have been since the turn of the century.

            * Last year, the Toronto Canadians were one of only 12 teams in BLB history to draw fewer than one million fans in a season. They also did it in 2013 and 2016.

            * The six worst single season attendance marks belong to the 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994, 1995, and 1996 Wilmington Wildcats. Way to go, Sully.

              * It will be a long time before anyone allows as many home runs as Norm Sutton (376). The active leader, Willis Cuesta, is 35 years old and almost 100 home runs behind Sutton. Cuesta has allowed 281 career home runs, a total that ranks 20th all-time.

              * Joe López's single season hit record of 251 hits, set in 1995, hasn't taken a serious challenge yet. The best total since then is Frank Zamora's 231 in 2009, a mark that places fifth all-time.

              * Andy Garcia, Pat Wayman, Ellis Shinamius, and Everardo Gremades are the only four players in BLB history to play in 163 regular season games in a season for one team.

              * Jamie O'Hearn is the youngest player in BLB history to have a 30 home run, 30 stolen base season.

              * The BLB has yet to have a 40 homer, 40 stolen base season.

              * Washington Bats catcher Jerry Fortin slugged 31 home runs in 1984, but drove in only 71 runs, the lowest RBI total for any player who hit at least 30 home runs.

              * Former Muckdog and Slammer All-Star Hector Coronel has the distinction of making the most plate appearances (and hits) of any player in BLB history who never stole a base. He made four attempts over the years, all unsuccessful.

              * Mel Woodbury and Yoshinaka Toiguchi are the only members of the 300 home run, 300 stolen base club.

              * The 2016 Toronto Canadians hold the record for fewest home runs by a team in a single season. They managed only 60 home runs.

No, it only takes me about ten minutes each to do them. They're fun when I have a little extra time.

Despite the rampant cheating, no Virginia Colonel hit more than 35 home runs from 1992 to the end, and the Virginia home run record was only 39, set by Mel Woodbury in 1989.

I feel as if Clay used to say he wanted gap hitters over home run hitters. Was that not a thing?

                                I think it was.

But I'm still surprised he never had anyone eclipse 35 homers during that time period, considering all the other crazy numbers his guys put up.
