Muckdogs Star Wrecks One-Of-A-Kind Car: Batavia star Jarod Goldberg is known for his hard-driving play on the field, but after what happened this week, he should probably drive a little more carefully on the roads.

The star closer was driving late at night on a winding road and smashed right into a highway barrier. He escaped with only scrapes and bruises and is listed as day-to-day, but the bigger injuries are to his wallet and his pride--the car, which was completely totaled, was a custom-built luxury Maybach valued at half a million dollars.

He angrily declined to take questions as he limped out of an Batavia-area hospital last night, but his publicist released the following statement: "Jarod is happy to be home with his family, and knows how lucky he is to have escaped nearly unhurt. He will be more careful in future, and he knows that cars, unlike people, can always be replaced."

Maybe so, but if he wants to be able to replace this one, he may need to drive a hard bargain when he next comes to the negotiating table.

    Kemp Signs for 6 years:
The latest news from the BNN reporters following the Philadelphia Freedom is that an agreement has been reached with R.J. Kemp to continue as their first baseman for another 6 years.

Looking at his stats this year, Kemp has compiled a .202 batting average, while hitting no home runs and driving in 11 runs. He has played in 28 games and scored 12 runs.

Star RP Krause Signs for 3 years:
The Batavia Muckdogs have finished a deal with All Star-caliber reliever Terry Krause that will extend his stay in Batavia at least 3 years and will pay out $9,600,000.

This year Krause has collected no saves in 12 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 0-0 won-lost mark with a 0.75 ERA and fanned 11 batters in 12 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .238 clip in 2016.

McPherson Belts Bunch of Base Hits:
What a day for Jamie McPherson of the Los Angeles Dinos! A 5-hit hitting spree! That doesn't happen every day! He ripped Death Valley pitching apart at Sonata Stadium and sparked the Dinos to a 15-0 victory. He wrote his name in the record books, finishing his special day 5 for 5. "I'm usually a first ball hitter," McPherson told BNN reporters in the postgame press conference. "I think pitchers think batters are going to let the first one go by. I never do. I've always found that it's better to pull the trigger early in the count. Pitchers get real nasty when they get ahead of you, so I try to avoid that." Jamie McPherson singled in the 1st, hit an RBI single in the 3rd, singled in the 4th, singled in the 5th and singled in the 7th.

In 31 games this year McPherson has posted a .358 average and put up these numbers: 5 home runs, 15 RBIs and 26 runs scored.

Star RP Signs Extension with Batavia: Batavia fans celebrated as word of a signing became reality. Martin Diaz won't be pulling up stakes anytime soon, as he has signed a 2-year extension at a pay rate of $3,000,000 per annum.

Since he is widely seen as an integral part of the club, Batavia officials had to keep Diaz from jumping ship.

This season Diaz has recorded no saves with a 0-2 record. He's made 17 relief appearances, tossed 11.2 innings while fanning 13 with a 5.40 ERA.

He told us a dog ran out into the road. Being a firm supporter of the ASPCA we totally understand and hope this doesn't affect his 0.00 ERA this season. We also wish him luck this offseason since he's too expensive for us to re-sign.

Brawlers Chill Yonke's Hot Streak: The Los Alamos Amigos lost to the Davenport Brawlers 3-1 today at Miletich Stadium, but perhaps the bigger news was the end of Geoff Yonke's 20-game hitting streak.

"We felt if we could slow down Yonke, we would win the game," the Brawlers manager explained. "They really seemed to feed off his streak, so we tried to put more emphasis on shutting him down."

Presently Yonke is batting .410 with 57 hits and no home runs. He has knocked in 11 runs and scored 21 times.

Knights Announce Deal for Veteran LF: Despite his solid numbers, some fans questioned the value of the Fred Schubert signing even as New York officials paraded him before the media this afternoon.

Schubert will surely bring a lot to the club, but he comes at a price of $5,600,000 over 1 year.

Murillo and Katzenberger Suspended, Out 4 Games: Ricky Murillo of the Baltimore Bulldogs and Todd Katzenberger of the Morgantown Mohawks got into a wrestling match yesterday at Phillips Field and now must pay the consequences for violating league rules. They have both been assessed 4-game suspensions by the league for inciting the heated altercation between the two clubs.

For the season, Murillo is hitting at a .375 clip with 8 home runs, 31 RBIs and has scored 26 runs. He has 54 hits, 21 walks and a .458 on-base percentage.

To date this year Katzenberger has fashioned a 3.06 ERA over 17.2 innings with a 2-0 record. He has made 18 relief appearances with 28 strikeouts and no saves.

Torres Whitewashes Brawlers: It was not a good day at the plate for Brawlers hitters. Most of them came up empty against Alex Torres of the Death Valley Scorpions. He held them to 4 hits and blanked Davenport 4-0. Torres also chalked up 8 strikeouts and no walks in the game at Miletich Stadium.

Season-to-date Torres has rung up 2 wins and 3 losses in 8 appearances. He has an ERA of 2.72 and has fanned 50 batters in 53 innings.

The Baltimore Bulldogs Win Again, Making it 10 Straight!: The Baltimore Bulldogs have simply been on fire lately, racking up an impressive 10 wins in a row. Few fans across Brewers League Baseball will have their team come close to winning so many games in a row this year and Baltimore manager Ismael López urged fans not to take it for granted.

"These guys are playing their butts off," said López. "I don't know how long it will last but I hope our fans are enjoying it. We sure are!"

Scorpions' Al Anguiano, Just One of the Fans?: Tailgaters and fans of the Death Valley Scorpions got the surprise of their life before yesterday's game as fan favorite, Al Anguiano, drove into the stadium parking lot in a custom built luxury RV.

He chose a parking spot amongst the many other tailgating fans and joined them for some pre-game revelries.

"These are hands down, the coolest fans in all of baseball. How could you not want to come hang out here," Anguiano said while grilling brats on the RV's custom fold out grill station.

By the time he had to depart for pre-game warm-ups and exercises, the bus was swarming with several dozen fans, all trying to get a chance to shake his hand and get a picture with the humble star.

"I love coming down here. I feed off the energy of the crowd. It's great to shake some hands, hear some stories and have that positive energy going into the ballpark," he said, noting he plans to make pre and post-game tailgating at his RV a regular occurrence.

Gugliotta Has 20-Game Hitting Streak: Gordie Gugliotta of the Knights tagged 1 hit in today's 5-2 loss to the Pawtucket Patriots at Pawtucket Park and ran his hitting streak to 20 straight games.
Gordie Gugliotta flied out in the 2nd, flied out in the 4th, flied out in the 6th and hit a solo-shot off Dave Martinez in the 9th.

This season Gugliotta is hitting .417 with 6 home runs.

Kodiaks Crook Injured: California closer Jamie Crook left today's game with a herniated disc. The injury looked like it occurred throwing a pitch in the game against Philadelphia. One fan said, "As soon as it happened, you could tell something was wrong." The injury will likely leave the Kodiaks without Crook for about 6-7 weeks.

This season Jamie Crook has been credited with 12 saves. In 24 relief appearances and 30.2 innings pitched, he has a 1-1 won-lost mark, 2.64 ERA and 38 strikeouts

Maine Announces Deal for Veteran CL: The Guides today announced that they have come to terms with Shinji Yamashita, a 35-year-old closer they've been scouting for a while.

Yamashita will earn $6,130,000 a year over 1 year and is expected to play a key role with the club.

Great Day for Williams, Hits for Cycle: Jamie Williams cracked out all four legs of the cycle today at Dallas Sea Life Aquarium, but Dallas still lost to the Denver BC by a final score of 3-1.

In a sensational performance, Williams had 4 hits in 4 tries with 1 run batted in and scored 1 run.

Jamie Williams doubled in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ted Chidester in the 4th, singled in the 6th and tripled in the 9th.

In his stats this season, Williams has posted a batting average of .280 with 46 hits in 164 at-bats, 10 home runs and 30 RBIs. He has also scored 24 runs, walked 12 times and compiled a .324 OBP.

Hot Bat Cooled, Gugliotta Hitless Against Millers: For 23 games in a row Gordie Gugliotta of the New York Knights had at least one hit in every game. His day of reckoning finally came at the hands of the Pittsburgh Millers, who held him without a hit in 3 at-bats. To make matters worse, they also won the ballgame 4-1.

So far this season Gugliotta is batting .402 with 7 home runs, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 87 at-bats, 5 walks and a .430 OBP. Gugliotta has played in 27 games.

Yonke Cracks 5 Hits: It wasn't just another day at the ballpark for Geoff Yonke of the Los Alamos Amigos. Yonke went on a tear at The Capitol and cracked hit after hit off Washington pitching. When the dust settled on the diamond, the 22-year-old second baseman had a career 5-for-8 day and something he will long remember. "Yeah, it'll be something nice to tell the grandkids, but I don't think I'll tell 'em we lost," he joked in the BNN postgame interview. Yonke got the accolades today, but the Washington Bats walked off the field with a 6-5 win. Geoff Yonke grounded out in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, doubled in the 9th, singled in the 12th, grounded out in the 13th and singled in the 16th.

So far this season Yonke has hit .439 with 1 home run, 23 RBIs and and scored 30 times.
