Update: Mendoza Out 4-5 Months: Since 04/11/2015, when he suffered shoulder inflammation, Ruben Mendoza has been waiting. Waiting to hear how badly he injured himself during that day's game. Today word came down from the doctors that the Baltimore reliever would miss 4-5 months. "It could have been better", said Mendoza, "but it also could have been much worse."
Washington Re-Signs Lippert to Extension: Washington fans celebrated as word of a signing became reality. Dave Lippert won't be pulling up stakes anytime soon, as he has signed a 4-year extension at a pay rate of $13,000,000 per annum.
Since he is widely seen as an integral part of the club, Washington officials had to keep Lippert from jumping ship.
Gaxiola Gets Injury Report: The medical report is in: the injury that has kept California starting pitcher Oscar Gaxiola out of action since 04/13/2015 will sideline him for another 8 months. The 33-year-old Gaxiola, who has a torn flexor tendon in his elbow, said he heals quickly. "I'll be back soon," he said, "and I'll pick up where I left off."
Batavia Right Fielder Hurt: The Batavia Muckdogs were informed today by team doctors that right fielder Hector Gutierrez sustained a strained hamstring in a recent game against the Morgantown Mohawks and will not play for 4 weeks. Gutierrez was hurt colliding with a player at a base.
Gutierrez is currently hitting at a .311 pace with 1 home run and 4 RBIs.
Stidham Struts Stuff in California Win: Jamie Stidham pitched a strong game in blanking the California Kodiaks 11-0, allowed no runs on 5 hits, totaled 7 strikeouts and gave up no walks.
The Philadelphia manager said he could tell right away it was going to be a good game for Stidham. "Right from the start, you could see how economical he was," he said. "He threw a lot of strikes."

Muckdogs Win Sweepstakes for 3B Alvarado: Billy Alvarado might be in the twilight of his career, but he is not going to leave the stage before the final act. Today the 36-year-old scribbled his signature on a $5,000,000-a-year deal with the Muckdogs.
Some fans openly questioned the signing, saying they would prefer the club use its resources on younger talent.
Clubhouse Leader, Pat Howell, Works on Team Chemistry: Things just aren't right in Pawtucket. At least that is the word out of the team's clubhouse. The veterans have begun to notice too. said, Pat Howell. "The season isn't a lost cause but internally we have to start clicking better if we want everything to flow on the field how we'd like to."
Howell has been spotted by the media treating his teammates to dinner as recent as this week and has been showing up quite early to the ballpark on game day.
"Yeah, I've been trying to beat the coaches to the field lately. I've been working with the newer guys trying to get the kinks out."
Pawtucket Patriots manager, Elijah Cook, has taken notice as well. He mentioned that Howell has had the outfield trying to get a better feel for each other on fly balls that hit the gaps. He was quick to add, "This is definitely his doing. He hates to see losses show up in the standings. Every team needs take charge guys like this who younger players look up to and older players respect."
Howell has promised better results going forward.
Lona on Fire, 5-7 Against Toronto: On top of the Los Angeles hit parade today was Marco Lona. He went to the plate 7 times and tagged 5 hits, but it was Toronto that marched off with the 6-5 win. He certainly had their number at the plate in this record-making 5-7 performance, however the Canadians marked it up in the victory column. The sweet swinging shortstop told reporters, "Each time I went to the plate, I was thinking about hitting the ball hard somewhere. When I focus on that, I usually have quality at-bats." The skipper of the Dinos griped to the press, "As a team, we just didn't do it with the bats and the pitching today. That's why we lost." Marco Lona singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, struck out in the 6th, hit an RBI single in the 8th, singled in the 10th, struck out in the 12th, walked in the 14th and singled in the 17th.
This season Lona is hitting .355 with no home runs.
Superstar Jimenez Stays in Dallas: Media analysts hailed Dallas's signing of Reynaldo Jimenez, one of Brewers League Baseball's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.
While the deal is certain to raise a few eyebrows, Jimenez is expected to earn every bit of the $48,000,000 promised him over 3 years.
To date in 9 relief appearances, Jimenez has recorded 6 saves while posting an ERA of 0.00 and 18 strikeouts in 9.2 innings pitched. His totals for the year also include no wins and no losses.

Injured Davila Out 6 Weeks: Ray Davila will have to wait a while longer. The Maine catcher was informed this afternoon that he will miss another 6 weeks with a fractured wrist. The injury has kept him off the field since 04/24/2015. Though Davila had hoped to return soon, he has no choice but to be patient. "Gotta stay focused," he said. "Gotta stay positive."
Davila is batting .207 this year with 2 home runs, 7 RBIs and 8 runs scored. He has 12 hits in 58 at-bats.
Cuesta Twirls Sharks to Shutout Victory: Dallas hurler Willis Cuesta was at his best as he whitewashed the California Kodiaks 10-0 today.
"He just kept the ball down, did a good job, made his pitches," said the California manager. "We didn't do a good job making adjustments, so we helped him out a little bit."
Cuesta fired a 2-hitter and totaled 7 strikeouts and 1 walk in the shutout performance.
So far this year Cuesta has made 5 starts, tossed 41 innings, struck out 30 batters and walked 6. His record is 4-1 with a 1.76 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .220 batting average.
Griffiths Hitless, Streak Ends at 20: Patriots third baseman Tom Griffiths was one of the hottest hitters in baseball, coming into today's game against Morgantown with a 20-game hitting streak. However, the Mohawks put a chill in his bat, at least for today, and held him hitless in 2 at-bats during the Morgantown 1-0 triumph at Pawtucket Park.
For the season, Griffiths is hitting at a .340 clip with 2 home runs, 10 RBIs and has scored 12 runs. He has 36 hits, 11 walks and a .407 on-base percentage.
Monson Involved in Accident: The Pittsburgh Millers will have to do without Jamie Monson for 2 weeks. The 29-year-old first baseman was injured while punching a wall during a fight with his wife and sustained an undisclosed injury.
So far this season Monson has put up a .261 batting average with 23 hits, 5 home runs and 10 RBIs.

No-Hit Masterpiece by Vega: Felipe Vega was untouchable today at In-N-Out Field, displaying a good fastball, a wicked curve and an unhittable change in his 2-0 win against the Los Angeles Dinos. The California hurler did not allow a single hit, fanning 8 while walking 3 and entering the record books.
"Hey, this is great," Vega told reporters after the game. "Every pitcher wants a no-hitter. This is nice, but I just want to win. The no-hitter is just a little extra icing on the victory cake."
This season-to-date Vega has 1 win and 1 loss and a 2.43 ERA.
Combs Pitches Batavia to Shutout Victory: The Pawtucket Patriots met their match today in Batavia hurler Jamie Combs. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 3-hit shutout.
"He just worked us over," the Pawtucket skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."
In the 2-0 victory Combs whiffed 7 and gave up no walks.
To this point in the season, Combs shows a 3-1 record, 6 starts, 45.2 innings, 40 strikeouts and a 0.99 ERA.
Lyke Holds Brawlers Scoreless: Pat Lyke of the Los Angeles Dinos shut out the Davenport Brawlers 6-0, holding them to 6 hits with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts. Lyke said, "I could throw any pitch on any count."
The Davenport skipper called his game a jewel, saying, "The way he was pitching, it would have been tough for anyone to beat him."
Over the season Lyke has thrown 36 innings and dished out 16 strikeouts with a 2-2 mark and a 4.00 ERA.
Nelson Expresses Desire to Leave Brawlers?: Several teams have surfaced as a possible trading partner with Davenport for Dave Nelson -- or so rumor has it. Sources inside the Brawlers organization report that teams have inquired about making a deal for the 32-year-old shortstop.
5-Hit Blitz by Hartford's Dellinger: Darryl Dellinger really sizzled at the plate in today's 12-2 win over Playboys. The Hartford first baseman blistered Windy City for 5 hits in 5 at-bats. "Dellinger was too tough to get out today," the Playboys skipper said in the postgame interview. "No matter what we threw him, he hit it. And he hit some good pitches, too." Darryl Dellinger hit an RBI single in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 6th and hit a two-run double in the 7th.
This year Dellinger is batting .333 with 42 hits, 11 home runs, 28 RBIs, 8 walks, .378 OBP and has scored 19 runs.
Nishimura Magnificent in Syracuse Win: Sometimes even Tadaomi Nishimura of Syracuse isn't sure which pitcher will show up when he takes the mound.
"I've been good sometimes and bad sometimes," he said. This time he looked good and made the Philadelphia Freedom look bad, blanking them by the score of 10-0.
Nishimura tossed a 1-hit shutout against them, totaling 4 strikeouts and giving up 1 walk.
On the year Nishimura has compiled a 3-2 mark with a 2.96 ERA.
