Feliciano Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 26: Late in the game Mohawks first baseman Hector Feliciano stepped into the batter box with his 26-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Feliciano did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Dinos had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 3 at-bats. However, Morgantown won the game 1-0.
"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Feliciano told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 26 straight games. It's something I will always remember."
Feliciano is batting at a .305 pace this season, picking up 141 hits in 462 at-bats with 23 home runs, 82 RBIs and 73 runs scored.
Star SP Signs Extension with Baltimore: Baltimore fans celebrated as word of a signing became reality. Dave Johnson won't be pulling up stakes anytime soon, as he has signed a 4-year extension at a pay rate of $14,770,000 per annum.
Since he is widely seen as an integral part of the club, Baltimore officials had to keep Johnson from jumping ship.
Over the season Johnson has thrown 157 innings and dished out 131 strikeouts with a 14-5 mark and a 2.24 ERA.
Number 2000 for Lona: Marco Lona, welcome to the club -- the 2000-hit club.
The Los Angeles shortstop gained membership in that elite group in a 8-3 victory over the Windy City Playboys at Sonata Stadium.
3 hits in 4 at-bats today enabled the Dinos star to reach the milestone.
Lona has a career .295 average with 2000 hits, including 344 doubles, 66 triples and 229 homers, collected 972 RBIs, scored 1033 runs and compiled a .366 OBP.
