Feliciano Goes Hitless, Streak Stopped at 26: Late in the game Mohawks first baseman Hector Feliciano stepped into the batter box with his 26-game hitting streak on the line. Up to then he was without a hit. Sadly it just wasn't to be -- Feliciano did not get a hit -- and his streak was finally over. The Dinos had stopped him, not allowing him a hit in 3 at-bats. However, Morgantown won the game 1-0.

"Winning the game took some of the disappointment out of it," Feliciano told reporters in the clubhouse. "Looking back on it, it was a great experience. Not too many players can say they had a hit in 26 straight games. It's something I will always remember."

Feliciano is batting at a .305 pace this season, picking up 141 hits in 462 at-bats with 23 home runs, 82 RBIs and 73 runs scored.

Star SP Signs Extension with Baltimore: Baltimore fans celebrated as word of a signing became reality. Dave Johnson won't be pulling up stakes anytime soon, as he has signed a 4-year extension at a pay rate of $14,770,000 per annum.

Since he is widely seen as an integral part of the club, Baltimore officials had to keep Johnson from jumping ship.

Over the season Johnson has thrown 157 innings and dished out 131 strikeouts with a 14-5 mark and a 2.24 ERA.

Number 2000 for Lona: Marco Lona, welcome to the club -- the 2000-hit club.

The Los Angeles shortstop gained membership in that elite group in a 8-3 victory over the Windy City Playboys at Sonata Stadium.

3 hits in 4 at-bats today enabled the Dinos star to reach the milestone.

Lona has a career .295 average with 2000 hits, including 344 doubles, 66 triples and 229 homers, collected 972 RBIs, scored 1033 runs and compiled a .366 OBP.

Burton Tosses Shutout Against Brawlers: "He's got a bunch of different arm angles and his ball was really moving," said the Davenport manager after watching Ron Burton of the Indianapolis Clowns humiliate his club 3-0 in a fine 3-hit shutout.

"If I make good pitches, I'm going to get some outs," Burton said after he befuddled the Brawlers. "I was making good pitches the entire game."

He whiffed 5 and walked 1 in the complete game effort.

This year Burton has compiled a 7-6 record with a 3.42 ERA.

2000th Hit for Caplan: The Death Valley contest with Syracuse featured a real shining moment: J.J. Caplan, the Scorpions right fielder, collected career base hit #2000. That his team lost the game, 11-10, took away only a little bit of the luster. Fittingly, the 36-year-old Caplan, who went 2-for-4, received a warm ovation from the Syracuse Stadium crowd.

As far as career numbers Caplan has compiled a .293 batting average and collected 2001 hits, 321 home runs and 1097 RBIs.

Danny Gomez Winner in Domestic League:
Danny Gomez relied on a .343 average to become the Domestic League Batter of the Month. He had a good August, going 37 for 108.

So far this season Gomez has 36 home runs and a .285 batting average.

Wright August's Best Bat Choice: Death Valley's Tom Wright wowed sportswriters in August with an award-winning performance. For his standout play he was voted the Import League Batter of the Month.

He rang up a .455 batting average with 6 home runs, 27 RBIs and 23 runs scored. He also had 9 walks and a .496 on-base percentage.

This season Wright has 27 home runs and a .338 batting average.

Moon Picked as August's Pitcher of the Month:
Al Moon is the latest Import League Pitcher of the Month award winner. The Carolina starter stood out on the hill time and again last month and finished August with a sparkling 4-1 record.

In 6 starts last month, he fanned 41, walked 5 in 39 innings and posted a 1.38 ERA. Moon held opposing teams to a .162 batting average when he was on the mound.

So far this season Moon has a 15-6 record, 26 starts, 176.1 innings, 134 strikeouts and a 2.35 ERA.

Manning DL Winner, Top Hurler in August
: R.J. Manning has been around the league long enough to know that relievers are often overlooked. That has never stopped him from doing what he does best -- and he did it extremely well in August and stole away with the Domestic League Pitcher of the Month award.

The BC bullpen ace collected 11 saves and 20 strikeouts in 18.1 innings, holding the opposition to a .085 average and posting a 0.00 ERA and a 1-0 record.

Thus far this season Manning has registered 59 relief appearances, worked 63.1 innings, struck out 89 and issued 16 walks. He has 41 saves with a 0.99 ERA and a 4-1 won-lost mark.

Patriots Mason Suffers Injury: It was announced today in Pawtucket that Patriots center fielder Sonny Mason will be on the mend for 2 weeks because of a finger sprain he sustained in a recent game against the Hartford Whalers. Mason was injured making a defensive play.

Mason is batting .300 with 22 home runs and 81 RBIs this season.

        Batavia No Match for Kahng:
It was a quiet day for the Batavia Muckdogs at Lawrence Stadium today. It was Chang-weon Kahng, the Morgantown starting pitcher, who made all the noise. He shut them out 4-0, allowing 3 hits while walking 2 and fanning 4.

So far this season Kahng has a record of 13-11 with 152 strikeouts and 66 walks in 190.1 innings and a 2.88 ERA.

Sharks Ruedas Tosses Masterpiece: Speaking after the game, the Dallas manager said, "Alejandro Ruedas had everything going for him. He changed speeds effectively, stayed down, had a lot of movement... he had it all... masterful."

Ruedas held the Los Angeles Dinos to 4 hits and fashioned a fine 5-0 shutout. He had no walks and 12 strikeouts in the game.

"We couldn't get anything going. He certainly had our number," the Los Angeles skipper told reporters.

Checking out his stats for the season, Ruedas has registered 13 wins and 8 losses in 27 starts, 2.99 ERA and struck out 142 batters in 198.2 innings.

Manager Chiasson History; Playboys Start Search:
"I wanted to win here, and I wanted to try to bring a championship to this city, but it just didn't work out," said a visibly shaken George Chiasson. "It's going to be awfully hard getting out of bed tomorrow knowing I'm not the manager of the Windy City Playboys." It was announced today in Windy City that Chiasson would be replaced as manager. The team's general manager credited Chiasson for having a "wide-reaching baseball knowledge," but added, "It's how many wins you put on the board that determines success in baseball. We've had a few problems with the way things have been going. Before they got any worse, we figured we would make a change," he said. The next manager is expected to be announced shortly.

Kemp Hitless, Streak Ends at 23:
His run was over, but a Philadelphia victory took some of the disappointment out of R.J. Kemp losing his 23-game hitting streak. The 28-year-old first baseman did not get a hit in 4 at-bats, but the Freedom whipped the Washington Bats 4-2 today at The Capitol.

Kemp is presently hitting at a .324 pace with 16 home runs, 70 RBIs and has scored 67 times.

Toronto Canadians Will Miss Playoffs Yet Again:
For the 5th straight year, Toronto Canadians fans will not get to see their favorite team in the playoffs. "At some point", said long time season ticket holder John Gregory, "ownership needs to make a change at the GM and Manager position. I'm not even sure I will be purchasing season tickets again next year." Currently sitting in last place in the Domestic League Pilsner Division with a record of 46-89, the Canadians will clearly have to do better next year. It will be interesting to see if any management shakeups occur during the coming offseason.

Patriots Chill Bachleda's Hot Streak: J.R. Bachleda, second baseman for the New York Knights, gave it a good try, but his day in history finally came to an end, when he went hitless in 3 tries against the Pawtucket Patriots. Not only had they stopped his 20-game hitting streak, they had beaten New York 5-0, too.

Speaking with the media after the game, Bachleda said, "Now that the streak has ended, I admit I will breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat. It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."

This year Bachleda has 4 home runs and a .275 batting average.

McLamore Signs for 2 years: Dallas announced that they have signed 32-year-old left fielder Pat McLamore to a 2-year, $22,840,000 agreement that will have him playing at The Sandlot for the foreseeable future.

For the year McLamore is batting .288 with 74 hits and 9 home runs. He has scored 27 times and driven in 36.

Gómez Gets Number 2500: Dallas's Álex Gómez collected his 2500th career base hit, but Syracuse collected the win. The Slammers ruined his special day by knocking off the Sharks 4-2. The 40-year-old left fielder reached the milestone by going 1-for-3 in the game.

Gómez has registered a career batting average of .290 with 2500 hits, 78 homers and 863 RBIs.

Very happy to have McLamore open for negotiations, he was asking for 3 Years, but I think 2 is good enough, depending if he keeps his bat strong we will extend his contract even more. Anyway for 2015 our prospects should be ready for the big scenario with a lot less money in the budget against us

We´re very proud of daddy, he´s blasting the ball for us as well, with 41 years I think we can´t expect more :)

Baltimore Clinches Playoff Spot Despite Loss: "It's not how you picture it when you're a kid," admitted manager, Ismael López, today after the Baltimore Bulldogs clinched a playoff spot despite losing to the Indianapolis.

"It felt a little strange celebrating at first," said the 46 manager in the clubhouse after the game. "But despite today, we're a winning team and we earned this. It's about more than just today, it's about the great team we've been all season long."

If the fans felt any qualms about the circumstances, they didn't show it. Many hung around outside the stadium long after the game, cheering and celebrating into the night.

                Davis Hurls Masterpiece:
The Denver BC posted a 5-0 shutout over Maine today on the strength of a strong performance by T.J. Davis. The BC pitcher held the Guides to 2 hits while walking 0 and fanning 4 in the route-going win.

This season Davis has a 6-6 mark in 13 starts with a 4.66 ERA. He has given up 87 hits in 83 innings, struck out 67 and issued 17 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .273 batting average against him.

Star RF Signs Extension with Los Angeles:
Pat St. Thomas might be greedy, but there's no disputing his talent. The hotshot right fielder will pocket $89,950,000 after re-signing with the Dinos earlier today, and will hang around another 5 years.

Some more financially prudent fans worried that the signing would burden the club down the road and might prevent it from being competitive, though many others were simply thankful that St. Thomas didn't bolt.

So far this season St. Thomas is hitting .252 with 41 home runs.

Gaddis Superb Against Los Alamos: Ty Gaddis bent a little, but he didn't break against the Amigos. The Davenport pitcher hurled a 2-hit 6-0 shutout in a fine performance, surrendering 2 walks and tallying 9 strikeouts.

"Ty is good at getting out of jams," his manager told reporters after the game. "He's almost more effective when he gets guys on base or gets behind in the count, because he uses your aggressiveness against you."

This season Gaddis has 7 wins and 9 losses and a 4.83 ERA.

Star LF Signs Pact with Dinos:
Happy times in Los Angeles as the Dinos and star left fielder Jamie McPherson put the finishing touches on a $112,400,000 contract extension that will keep the 30-year-old in town 6 years longer.

The signing is great news for Los Angeles because players of this caliber are hard to come by.

So far on the season McPherson is hitting .291 with 24 home runs, 74 RBIs and 88 runs scored. He has 154 hits and played in 147 games.

                    Red-Hot Colon Scorches Slammers:
Today Michael Colon led Toronto to a 3-2 victory over the Syracuse Slammers. He stoked 5 hits in 6 at-bats to spark his club in the win. Michael Colon singled in the 2nd, singled in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Johnny Kelley in the 6th, doubled in the 8th, grounded out in the 11th and singled in the 13th.

Colon is batting .271 with 1 home runs and 12 RBIs this season.

Kun Goes Cycling: Pittsburgh center fielder Zhi-peng Kun had a stellar day today at Syracuse Stadium. His 4-hit day included a cycle and 4 runs batted in and was instrumental in the Millers 11-0 victory over the Syracuse Slammers.

Zhi-peng Kun singled in the 1st, hit a two-run double in the 3rd, tripled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th and hit a two-run home run off Alfonso Gonzalez in the 9th.

Thus far this year Kun is hitting .298 with 17 home runs, 73 RBIs and 99 runs scored.

Tom Wright Hurt, Out of Action: The Death Valley Scorpions were dealt a severe blow when Tom Wright was hurt making a defensive play recently in a game against the Los Alamos Amigos. After the game, the team trainer reported Wright might have to spend a lengthy time on the disabled list. Today doctors confirmed it, ruling the 29-year-old left fielder out for the rest of the season with an intercostal strain. They indicated it would take Wright at least 4 weeks to heal.

Thus far in 2014 Wright is hitting .333 with 29 home runs, 113 RBIs, 96 runs scored and has compiled a .378 OBP.

Gill Whitewashes Los Alamos: The Los Alamos Amigos met their match today in Death Valley hurler Erik Gill. He kept them guessing the whole game and spun a 5-hit shutout.

"He just worked us over," the Los Alamos skipper said. "He probably didn't even take a shower after the game. I don't think he even worked up a sweat. They could probably pitch him again tomorrow."

In the 9-0 victory Gill whiffed 7 and gave up 2 walks.

During this season Gill has 3 relief appearances and registered 0 saves. Batters are hitting him at a .246 rate and his season record is 10-5 with a 3.53 ERA. He has logged 117.1 innings and struck out 102.

                            Injury Update for Syracuse, Stuart:
Team officials for the Syracuse Slammers have revealed that the recent injury to Ethan Stuart will keep him out for 5 weeks. The 28-year-old left fielder suffered a torn meniscus on 10/04/2014. He has not played since.

Thus far this year Stuart has hit .296 with 40 home runs and 115 RBIs.

Los Angeles Re-Signs Yahn to Extension:
Media analysts hailed Los Angeles's signing of Pat Yahn, one of Brewers League Baseball's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.

While the deal is certain to raise a few eyebrows, Yahn is expected to earn every bit of the $74,000,000 promised him over 4 years.

This season Yahn has gone 17-6 with an ERA of 2.07, posting 250 strikeouts in 243.2 innings.
