Bryant Out of Commission 12 Months: Pat Bryant could soon be placed on the disabled list. The Maine reliever told reporters that he expects to be "out of commission" for 12 months because of a torn rotator cuff. He hasn't played since 05/18/2014 and, he said, he's "itchin' to get back out there."

Bryant's record this season is 2-and-0 with no saves and a 1.29 ERA. He has given up 11 hits in 14 innings with 16 strikeouts.

      Arce Sparkles, Blanks Los Angeles:
David Arce was in charge the whole game in the BC victory over the Dinos today. In a superb performance he blanked Los Angeles 4-0, yielding 1 hit while registering 12 strikeouts and no walks.

Up to now Arce has recorded a record of 2-1. In 7 starts he has fanned 56 batters in 48.1 innings with a 3.72 ERA.

Yahn Puts Spell on New York:
Pat Yahn of the Los Angeles Dinos shut out the New York Knights 6-0, stopped them on 2 hits and had 9 strikeouts and 3 walks in a strong outing.

After the game his manager said, "He just came out and was on the attack from the first pitch he threw. When Pat stays ahead in the count, he does well. That's the key."

So far this year Yahn has made 9 starts, tossed 72.1 innings, struck out 72 batters and walked 19. His record is 7-1 with a 1.87 ERA and he has limited opposing teams to a .198 batting average.

Domestic League Announces May's Best Batter: There's nothing like putting up good, solid numbers in the last year of your contract. Today J.J. Caplan helped his contract negotiations by nabbing May's Domestic League Batter of the Month honors.

The New York right fielder put together a .352 batting average with 8 home runs, 27 RBIs and 17 runs scored.

Someone will surely be opening up the vault this offseason if Caplan continues at this brisk pace.

This season Caplan has delivered 60 hits in 186 at-bats for a .323 average with 11 home runs. He is getting on base at a .371 clip and his totals also include 42 RBIs and 26 runs scored. This year Caplan has played in 48 games.

Death Valley's Wright Bags IL Batting Award: May was an outstanding month for Death Valley left fielder Tom Wright and it was capped off today with the announcement that he was named the winner of the Import League Batter of the Month award.

Wright compiled a .360 batting average and .405 on-base percentage for the month. In 27 games he piled up 40 hits, 7 home runs, 17 RBIs and 19 runs scored.

So far this season Wright has 9 home runs and a .328 batting average.

DL Selects Yahn May's Top Starter: Despite the number of years he's been in the league, Pat Yahn still gets excited when he puts together a quality stretch like he had in May. The 30-year-old starter for Los Angeles was named Domestic League Pitcher of the Month earlier today.

He collected 5 wins and no losses with 53 strikeouts in his 6 starts, putting up a fine 1.33 ERA in 47.1 innings of work.

This year Yahn has fashioned a 9-1 mark, 1.64 ERA and pitched 87.2 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .195 against him and he has logged 93 strikeouts.

May's Top Starter is Martinez: Veteran Diego Martinez put together quite a successful stretch in May for the Batavia Muckdogs, earning himself the Import League Pitcher of the Month award.

Martinez racked up a 4-0 record in 6 starts, posting a 1.67 ERA over 37.2 innings and striking out 22.

This season in 10 starts Diego Martinez has a record of 7-1 with 44 strikeouts in 63.2 innings and a 2.12 ERA.

Lippert Shines in Gem: The Wilmington Wildcats struggled at the plate today against Bats hurler Dave Lippert, who shackled them on 1 hit while hurling a complete game 3-0 shutout.

"What can you say? We didn't hit well," said the Wildcats skipper in his postgame comments.

"Hopefully we shake this off and bounce back tomorrow."

Lippert finished the game with 7 strikeouts and no walks in an excellent mound performance.

"He pitched real well," his manager said. "Dave made pitches when he had to. He hit his spots and did a great job of mixing in his changeup and using his fastball effectively."

Checking out his stats for the season, Lippert has notched 5 wins and 3 losses in 11 starts, 3.00 ERA and struck out 65 batters in 72 innings.

Lowe Tags Number 300: It was a historic day for Batavia's fine center fielder J.R. Lowe. He slammed home run number 300 in the Muckdogs 6-5 loss to the Death Valley Scorpions at The Sandbox.

He told reporters after the game, that he was disappointed in losing the game. "It's great to get that many homers, but I don't play for homers -- I play to win. That's the name of the game."

In his milestone-making game Lowe went 1 for 4, scored 1 run and collected 3 runs batted in. That home run put him in a select group of ballplayers.

In 1639 career games Lowe has hit .257 with 1696 hits, 300 home runs, 958 RBIs and scored 980 runs.

Star 1B Signs Extension with Death Valley: Media analysts hailed Death Valley's signing of Willie Rosales, one of Brewers League Baseball's brightest stars, as a pivotal move.

While the deal is certain to raise a few eyebrows, Rosales is expected to earn every bit of the $84,000,000 promised him over 5 years.

Rosales is batting at a .265 pace this season, picking up 56 hits in 211 at-bats with 14 home runs, 36 RBIs and 35 runs scored.

Davis Out of Commission 9 Months: The medical report is in: the injury that has kept Pittsburgh third baseman Jamie Davis out of action since 06/03/2014 will sideline him for another 9 months. The 24-year-old Davis, who has a torn posterior cruciate ligament, said he heals quickly. "I'll be back soon," he said, "and I'll pick up where I left off. "

This year Davis is hitting .223 with 5 home runs and 20 RBIs to his credit. He has gotten on base at a .232 clip and scored 10 runs.

Rumor: Unhappy Gruell Leaving Freedom: Allegedly, Jamie Gruell has asked to be traded from Philadelphia. It is rumored that he is unhappy with fans and the team management and that maybe the pressure and demands of playing here are too great.

Dallas, Veteran Gamboa Sign Deal: Sharks fans were divided today as Dallas confirmed that the front office has signed David Gamboa to a 1-year extension at a rate of $10,000,000 per year.

While many were enthusiastically behind the signing, others worried about Gamboa's age.

So far this season Gamboa has put up a .291 batting average with 59 hits, 14 home runs and 26 RBIs.

Everyone is free to negotiate. No holds barred. Honestly upping demands won't be contract altering thing. I think salaries will slowly climb for some of the better players. Plus I think it's a good contract overall. If TJ Dunn is making $4m, $14m is a mega contract.

Tony Falfan Out for 5 Weeks: The Carolina Tobs will lose the services of third baseman Tony Falfan after he sustained an intercostal strain while colliding with a player at a base in today's game against the Indianapolis Clowns. "I'll get through it," Falfan said. "The key now is to stay positive." His trainer said he is expected to be sidelined for 5 weeks.

In 57 games this season Falfan is batting .265 with 56 hits and 7 home runs. He has scored 34 runs and driven in 39.

Baltimore's Griffith Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits: At Rocky Top Park Zack Griffith was the King of Swing today in the 9-4 win over the BC. The Baltimore second baseman stepped into the batter's box 6 times against the Denver and delivered 5 hits. It was a sensational game for him. He told the press, "Unbelievable feeling. It felt good. 5 for 6! It does wonders for your batting average, too." Zack Griffith singled in the 1st, flied out in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 8th.

Griffith is presently hitting at a .290 pace with no home runs, 13 RBIs and has scored 19 times.

Guides Suarez Out of Action: It was announced today in Maine that Guides right fielder Steve Suarez will be out 5 weeks. Suarez suffered back spasms that occurred during a game against the Los Alamos Amigos.

Presently Suarez is batting .299 with 6 home runs and 24 RBIs. He has played in 40 games and scored 25 times.

Latest Injury Report on Morales: Team officials for the Indianapolis Clowns have revealed that the recent injury to Jonathan Morales will keep him out for 2 months. The 25-year-old left fielder suffered a torn ligament in his thumb on 06/09/2014. He has not played since.

This season Morales is hitting .235 with 32 hits, 6 home runs, 21 RBIs, scored 19 runs and played in 34 games.

Rosema Hits in 20 Consecutive Games: Baltimore's Jimmy Rosema was 1-4 in the Bulldogs 2-1 victory over the Dallas Sharks. That stretched his hitting streak to 20 games.

In the clubhouse after the win, the 32-year-old Rosema told reporters, "I'm in a groove right now, and I am trying to stay there by doing the same things over and over again. If I change something, it might bring me bad luck."
Jimmy Rosema flied out in the 1st, flied out in the 4th, singled in the 6th and grounded out in the 7th.

Thus far in 2014 Rosema is hitting .415 with 2 home runs, 23 RBIs, 35 runs scored and has compiled a .494 OBP.

Alvarez Out 4 Months: Ignacio Alvarez could soon be placed on the disabled list. The Maine starting pitcher told reporters that he expects to be "out of commission" for 4 months because of a partially torn labrum. He hasn't played since 06/14/2014 and, he said, he's "itchin' to get back out there."

In 13 starts this year Alvarez has fashioned a 4-3 record and a 2.49 ERA.

Big Win for Dukes Rodriguez, Gets Save #400: One of the most important elements of a baseball team is its relief specialist -- the guy who comes in late in the game in crucial situations to stop rallies, and perhaps most of all, to close out the win. That's exactly what David Rodriguez does, and does very well. The New Orleans bullpen ace copped his 400th career save today at Phillips Field. He shut down the Baltimore Bulldogs and saved the Dukes 2-1 victory. Rodriguez pitched 1 innings, gave up no runs, and allowed no hits to etch his name in the Brewers League Baseball record book.

Rodriguez has accounted for 400 saves in his career.

Dukes Chill Rosema's Hot Streak: Baltimore right fielder Jimmy Rosema came into today's game against the New Orleans Dukes on a hot streak. When it was over, the Dukes did their job very well. They beat the Baltimore Bulldogs 2-1 and cooled him off at the same time. New Orleans stopped Rosema without a hit and his 22-game hitting streak came to an end.

The 32-year-old Rosema only had a few words to say after the game, "I had a chance to do it and I came up short."

His manager commented, "What Jimmy did was exciting and quite an achievement. It's tough enough to get one hit in this league, much less go 22 games in a row. I'm really proud of him. And I'm even more proud of the way he handled the press coverage. He never let the frenzy get to him or affect his play."

So far this season Rosema has put up a .408 batting average with 95 hits, 2 home runs and 23 RBIs.

Star LF McLamore Settles on Dallas: The Sharks today announced that they have come to terms with Pat McLamore, a 32-year-old left fielder they've been scouting for a while.

McLamore will earn $3,500,000 a year over 1 year and is expected to play a key role with the club.

Carolina Halts Stuart's Hitting Steak: The Slammers lost to Carolina today by the score of 2-1 at Syracuse Stadium, but the bigger story was the end of a hit streak. Syracuse left fielder Ethan Stuart was working on a 20-game hitting streak, but went 0-for-3 against the Tobs as the hot stretch came to an end.

This season Stuart is hitting at a .324 pace with 16 home runs, 47 RBIs and has scored 39 times.

Willie Castellanos Gets Diagnosis, Out 8-9 Months: Willie Castellanos could soon be placed on the disabled list. The New York starting pitcher told reporters that he expects to be "out of commission" for 8-9 months because of a stretched elbow ligament. He hasn't played since 06/18/2014 and, he said, he's "itchin' to get back out there."

For the season Castellanos has compiled a 6-5 record with a 3.98 ERA.

Muckdogs Roberts Booms 3 HRs: Batavia left fielder Jamie Roberts sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Roberts predicted he would hit a home run against the Indianapolis Clowns.

During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Muckdogs over the Clowns 10-4.

"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Roberts told reporters after the game.

To go along with the homers, he collected 4 RBIs and scored 4 runs.

Jamie Roberts hit a solo-shot off Antonio Medina in the 2nd, hit a two-run home run off Antonio Medina in the 3rd, walked in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Leo Gonzales in the 7th.

Roberts is currently hitting at a .267 pace with 5 home runs, 10 RBIs and has scored 14 times.
