WASHINGTON, DC – After a 12th inning loss the Washington Bats found themselves down 0-2 in the Brewmaster’s and desperately looking for a spark. In Game Three Robby Duffy gave delivered one of the greatest performances in the history of the league.
In the 2-0 win in Washington, the flame-throwing left-hander pitched the first Perfect Game in Bats history and the first in Brewmaster’s history (I think). The win proved to be the crucial rallying leading to a series win over Los Angeles in seven games.
“Game of my life? Moment of my life? Without a doubt. 27 up, 27 down. It's a pitchers dream. And to do this on the biggest stage...it's something I'll never forget,” a chocked up Duffy said after the game.
The team also leaned heavily on ace Dave “Pizza” Lippert, who started games one, four and the series clinching seventh.
“I mean, I don’t want to sound cocky but that’s why the brought me here,” said a champagne-drenched Lippert . When asked now that he’s a Brewmaster’s Champion, what he was going to do next, he simply said, “I’m going to have a pizza party...with 20 Victoria Secret Models”
However, the happiest member of the team wasn’t a pitcher. He didn’t even play in the games. The manager, Bao “Big Stick” Cahn was shown the door in Carolina after winning the 2011 Brewmaster’s and got the ultimate redemption a year later.
“Beating the Tobs felt great but obviously winning the whole thing feels pretty good too.” When asked why GM Fsquid let him go, after guiding the team to a title and 12 years as manager the 48-year-old simply said, “He was jealous. It has to do with my nickname... That’s really all I can say.”
Winning their 6th title feels great for everyone in the franchise but GM Pat McLaughlin could soon find himself in a media storm. According to sources, the Bats are prepared to let some talented players test the free-agent waters. A LOT of talent: Diego Flores, Jon Montalbo, Tyler Winslow, Manny Reyes, Koi-show Chai and Pat Forester. There are also rumors that Danny Romero and David Rodriguez are on the trading block. Apparently, they are negotiating with slugger Antonio Cardenas.
The team also announced in a press release they will soon reveal new uniforms and team logo.
The Championship Trophy is still being paraded around the Capital but change is coming.
