IL Pale Ale Pitcher - SP Troy Martin

    IL Ranks:
    1st in ERA
    1st in WHIP
    1st in OPP AVG
    2nd in H/9
    4th in HR/9
    T-1st in CG
    5th in VORP

    BLB Ranks:
    1st in ERA
    2nd in WHIP
    2nd in OPP AVG
    3rd in H/9
    6th in HR/9
    T-2nd in CG

    Home: 8-3, 2.21 ERA, 1.02 WHIP
    Road: 7-3, 2.27 ERA, .91 WHIP
    Total: 15-6, 2.24 ERA, .97 WHIP

I know all the arguments against him. He plays in a pitchers park....but he has actually been better on the road. He only has 26 starts...but he was part of a six-man rotation all season. He has half the strikeouts compared to other candidates...but he is a contact pitcher who relies on his defense.

I'm not saying he deserves the award over Todd Taylor, Pat Evans, Ian Fink, Edgar Meija, etc. I'm just saying the league leader in ERA and WHIP leader should be at least considered.

IL Last Call Relief - CL David Rodriguez

    IL Ranks:
    2nd in Saves
    T-2nd in Wins
    5th in IP

    Total: 8-6, 39 saves, 2.05 ERA, 88 IP, 96 K, 1.09 WHIP

Like Martin, I'm not saying he is the outright choice for the award. There are a lot of good candidates: Shinji Yamashita, Jesse Vonettinghausen, Jamie Cook, Jarod Goldberg, Jamie Gruell, etc. But I would think 2nd in saves has to count for something.

Don't look at stupid, useful metrics to decide. Look at the guys who put up the big fancy numbers.

Dave Honea has been great this season. So has Willie Fajardo since coming up mid season.

Lots of close races this year.

I think Fajardo got called up too late to pass Rauth and Thomas...but if given an earlier call up, he might have ran away with the award.

Probably. Would have been nice to have added another New Brew pitcher, but I did the right thing waiting on him.

I don't have the time or access to the game to properly pimp my players, however I think it should be noted that Todd Taylor has had a monster year in a hitters' park.

He's logged an IL BEST 221 IP so far, while maintaining a 2.27 ERA and ridiculously low .99 WHIP with that many innings logged. He's leading the IL in VORP and has a CG shutout.

There are a lot of good candidates out there, but when you combine Taylor's elite performance level, with his home #parkfactors and the tremendous # of innings logged, I think he's proven that he deserves your vote for the 2012 Pale Ale Award.

2012 Awards (Pimp your players thread)

Any other year, Oscar Sanchez is a top candidate for Stout Slugger but he won't win it and I'm good with that.

However, he's a solid #2 vote getter with his .327/.354/.927, 42 doubles, 12 triples, and 30 home runs. No access to the game so I haven't checked but with those numbers, he's got to be one of the top hitters in XBH. Check his home/road splits and you will see, he's a terror in ANY park. And he does all of this while being one of best defensive center fielders in the game.

The only reason his stats don't look insane is because Ricky Murillo exists.

Ricky Murillo isn't in the utility for IL Stout Slugger voting. Can we fix this oversight?

Does he meet the requirement. And I didn't update the utility yet. Will go after tonight's SIM.

So maybe don't vote just quite yet.
