J.J. Meyers (OF)

J.J. Meyers is a lefty slugger who has carved out a great spot as a capable backup here in Baltimore. Selected in the 4th round by Carolina in 2010, Meyers earned a call up to the BLB following a 22 HR (325 AB) performance in 2014 and posting a 190 OPS+ in 2015 for our AAA (Annapolis) level.

As stated earlier, he's been amazing for us in a backup role with 4 HR and 1.224 OPS in 33 AB so far this season.

Former Pat heartthrob Tom Calligan made his Guides debut a sim or two ago.

He's three starts in now.

He's 2-0 with a 1.86 ERA.

Meet Jimmy Maggi.

A 6'1'' starting pitcher from New York, Maggi joined the Guides organization in 2013 as the 214th overall pick. He played college ball at Cal State Fullerton.

Despite his 5/3/4 potential, according to at least two scouts, Maggi made a name for himself in Maine.

Pitching so well at single-A Barre that he earned a promotion to double-A Bar Harbor in his first professional season, he posted a 1.35 ERA there.

In 2014, his second professional season, Maggi again excelled at the AA level, striking out 75 batters in 80 innings and walking only 15, before being promoted again to AAA at age 21. Maggi again pitched well, before unfortunately injuring his shoulder and missing the rest of the 2014 campaign.

Perhaps that would have been it for Jimmy Maggi. A 9th round pick with 5/3/4 ratings coming off a major injury. Doesn't look good, right?

As the ace of the 2015 triple-A champions, Maggi threw 131 2/3 innings, with a 13-3 record and 2.12 ERA, the second-best mark at the AAA-level to his teammate (and current Guide) Liam Kincaid.

Maggi will make a few starts for Maine, beginning this sim. It's his time now to prove the doubters wrong once more.

C Izzy Galvan

Once a 6th Round pick by the Baltimore Bulldogs was signed as a FA when Sharkn20 took over the former Dallas Snappers.

After getting a spot in the AA All-Star team in 2013, he was promoted as a full Catcher for Chicago, he started to post very nice numbers straight away that year.
After a slight decline of his production during 2014 and were overplayed by Franco who eventually got a promotion to the BLB, Izzy tried even harder during the off-season because with 28 Years and being outplayed by younger players is not a good spot to keep a Roster spot in an AAA team.

The Mexican was ready for the regular in 2015 to play as a Catcher or as a DH outlashing the ball against LHP. Galvan got a spot in the AAA All-Star and was waiting for his chance to be the next man up in Dallas.

Franco got injured by a hard ball in his helmet and then Sharkn20 turned his head to the AAA team. Then looking his numbers .325 / .396 / .469 / .865 / 141 / 2.4 WAR and No Errors at the position is a good card of presentation to be called up in September!

All the best for Izzy, come on man! Is your time to show me what you can do!

With my starting rotation looking like a MASH unit, I was forced to call up Johnny Bednarczyk.

Johnny was a 17th overall pick in the 2011 draft and while his minor league stats haven't lit the world on fire, he lit August on fire at the AAA level. Enough to earn a call-up after Mel Reyes and Dave Baldwin went out with injuries.

Since being called up to The Show, he's had 4 starts, earning a 2-1 record, 1.54 ERA and a .99 WHIP over 23.1 innings.

We hope that J-Bed can continue having success at the highest level and help the Mohawks make the playoffs for the first time in franchise history.

1B Milt Stoll

The 1.16 pick of the famous 2014 draft comes up to the Show to replace an ineffective Xavier Seals, who was currently ranked 24th for all 1B in the league.

Stoll in AAA this year was hitting .347/.438/.573 with 4 HR's and 15 RBI's in 20 games. He wants to be in the BLB and my scout agrees.

Combined with another 22 year old...

C Zack Fowler

Fowler was a 3rd round pick in 2014 and another player my scout is in love with. The Batavia organization is pretty sure they don't remember picking him so thank you StatsLab scout! So far this year he's hitting .276/.382/.534 with 4 HR's and 10 RBI's.

Jimmy Cooper (SP)

Selected 20th overall in the historic 2014 draft, Cooper is not your typical Bulldog pitching prospect. First of all, he is not left handed. He doesn't have overpowering stuff and most importantly, he was drafted in the first round. Aside from being injury prone and possessing decent intangibles, there aren't many qualities that would make you think he could be a Bulldog prospect.

Despite all of that, the 22 year old Tennessee native does have the potential to be a control artist at the BLB level and has already shown an aptitude for keeping the ball in the park. And though his fastball tops out 90MPH, the fact that it is nearly indistinguishable from his other pitches (particularly his changeup) he sits down a surprisingly high number of batters.

The 2014 NCAA OPA winner should fit in well, continuing to hone his craft from the experienced veterans on the pitching staff.

J.J. Carver (IF)

Due to a stellar end of the season in Annapolis (AAA) and an even more impressive September call-up performance in 2015, the 22 year old, J.J. Carver earned a chance to play at the BLB level this year. Also a member of the class of 2014, Carver was selected in the 4th round.

After being fast tracked through the Baltimore minor league system, J.J. finds himself outplaying Dave Graves for an everyday starting infielder for the Bulldogs, splitting time between second and third base. So far this year, Carver is hitting .293/.370/.512 with 2 home runs, 2 doubles and 4 walks in 41 at-bats.

D.J. Gosser (1B)

The Baltimore front office worked very hard to move up a few places to get Gosser as the #13 overall selection in the 2014 draft. A switch hitting first baseman, has good contact and amazing power from both sides of the plate. Gosser won back-to-back NCAA Outstanding Hitter Awards in 2012 and 2013, setting the NCAA single season record for runs (71), home runs (30), and RBI (83) as a freshman. Gosser also finished 3rd in 2014 for the award.

Earler this year, Gosser did struggle in Spring Training and was sent back to Annapolis. However, Gosser turned it on in AAA, hitting .354/.433/1.003 with 4 home runs, 5 doubles, and 11 walks in 79 AB.

It is almost a given that the 22 year old native New Yorker's entire family will be in Baltimore to cheer him on when he starts his first BLB game on Tuesday. While the Baltimore front office is just hoping the young phenom can be the spark necessary to catapult the Bulldogs to the top of the BLB's toughest division.

Have been trying to figure out how much more time I should give the current roster versus how much benefit it could be to a couple names to start playing now. Unfortunately, I'm also unsure who to demote if I call up 2-3 names. So why rush it?
