When a 6/5/6 Fly Ball pitcher with a 7.76 ERA prior that game erases you from the scoreboard, it´s obvious that we have a problem and is not with the pitching....

Number 300 for Cardenas: Antonio Cardenas circled the bases and raised his arm in triumph. He had finally hit his 300th home run. It was a homer for a lot of people: himself; his teammates past and present; his former managers and coaches; and especially his family, who sat near the plate cheering his every at-bat during the past few games.

Cardenas spoke with BNN and said, "I knew number 300 would come sooner or later. I had to keep reminding myself, 'Relax, relax, just let it happen, let it happen.' And it finally did."

Sanchez Blisters Morgantown: Who needs batting practice? Oscar Sanchez of Baltimore apparently doesn't as he battered Morgantown with a 5-hit outburst in today's game to lead his club to a 6-3 win. He told the press after the game, "And I didn't even take BP today. I think I have been taking too many swings before game and decided to take a day off. Wow, this was really something... a 5 for 5 day... will my name be in the record books now?" Oscar Sanchez singled in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, doubled in the 7th and tripled in the 8th.

So far this year Sanchez is batting .368 with 9 home runs.

Rosales and Baisden Fight, Get Suspended: There was a mass free-for-all yesterday at The Pond. Both dugouts emptied when Seattle's Willie Rosales and Morgantown's Regin Baisden scuffled with one another after some heated words.

Oldham on Fire: 5-5 for Syracuse: All game long Syracuse's Zachary Oldham was rattling the walls at Babylon and banging out base hits against the Los Alamos Amigos and when the dust finally settled on the diamond, he had a career day, a 5-hit day, but no victory. The Amigos defeated the Slammers 3-2 to take a little of the glitter of the occasion away. Speaking with reporters after his standout performance, the 27-year-old right fielder said, "To get 5 hits and win a ballgame, that would have been a very special day. But we didn't win today. It's not easy to be happy when you lose. Only losers do that." In all, Oldham collected 5 hits in 5 at-bats and a spot in the record book. Zachary Oldham singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI single in the 9th.

Ricky Murillo Hurt, Out 5 Weeks: The Tobs received bad news this morning. Ricky Murillo will miss 5 weeks due to an oblique strain. He sustained the injury in the Carolina-Denver game while running the bases. "I'm disappointed more than anything," he told reporters later in the day. "You can't help your team on the bench," Murillo sighed. "I'll do the rehab work and hope for a quick recovery."

Guides Chill Dunn's Hot Streak: T.J. Dunn's hit streak ended at 21 games today as the Canadians first baseman went 0-for-4 in a 5-0 loss to the Guides.

"It's one of those things," Dunn said. "It just didn't happen. I guess it was my day not to get a hit."

This year Dunn is batting .329 with 16 home runs and 55 RBIs. In 65 games he has scored 45 times.

Batavia Muckdogs officials made the announcement this afternoon. They said that Omura is expected to miss at least 5-6 months with a fractured elbow.

Bats 2B, Danny Romero, Trying To Build Team Chemistry: Bats local beat writer, Leonard Simons, interviewed 27 year old, Danny Romero about his team's recent struggles. "Obviously, the team is slumping right now, we're pressing, pointing fingers at everyone else. We individually have to take responsibility for how we're performing and just be supportive of our teammates. I invited all the guys over to my house for a BBQ to talk about team goals and just be able to ease some of the tension that's been in the clubhouse as of late due to our recent slump."

Romero's veteran leadership should help bring some team camaraderie to a club that desperately needs it to get back on track.

"The first two pitches I'm looking for an out, a ground ball or a fly ball," Eddy said. "I'm trying to get quick outs. I've never been a big believer in trying to strike a guy out from the very first pitch. It's too easy to end up behind in the count doing that."

This season Eddy has registered 7 wins and 4 losses in 15 starts with a 3.06 ERA.
