(AP) - In a surprising move today the Batavia AAA affiliate Houston Dragons announced they were heading across the border and would become the first BLB affiliated team to have their headquarters in Mexico. The team will play in Juarez, in the Mexican state of Chihuahua and be called the Guerreros.
Team owner Guo-quiang Liu said to the Houston Chronicle "being born in China I understand how international relations can affect the popularity and growth of the BLB. There are currently over 100 players in the BLB and affiliates who were born in Mexico and we felt the fan base there was ready to support a team. Since their inaugural season in 1984 our AAA team has been to the playoffs 18 times and won 4 Horizon League Championships. We hope to the give the fans of Juarez a high quality of play and bring them another championship soon."
